CHAPTER EIGHT
Sometimes You Gotta Kill A Guy

Lorelai was still weary of Claire Phelps. There was something about her that irked her skin, and made her soul burn, and not in a good way. Nonetheless, Lorelai had a mission, and she was going to complete it, no matter how much she wanted to stab Ethan Hunt and saw no point in the assigned mission.
She sat at the table or desk with Ethan, looking over the computer again. "I'm disavowed. They actually think I killed Jim and everyone else." Ethan whispered.

Lorelai widened her eyes and blinked in confusion. She might not like Ethan, hell, she hated him with her entire being, but she knew he wasn't the one to kill Jim Phelps or anyone else. She wasn't even sure she saw Jim being shot. She only saw blood on his hands and smeared across his jacket and blouse. It seemed too staged.

"Somehow $100,000 finds its way into my parent's bank account. Kittridge assumes I'm the mole they've been tracing... and I've been in the employ of an arms dealer, Max... for the last two years... to get him our NOC list." Ethan stated, standing up and walking to lean forward on the back of the chair.

"What are you gonna do?" Claire asked.

"I'm gonna get it for him." Ethan replied.

Claire pinched the bridge of her nose, "Ethan, you're not making any sense."

"Does he ever make sense?" Lorelai questioned, also standing up. Ethan shot her a look, scoffed then carried on.

"Whoever the mole is... I think goes by the name of Job. I can't find him, but if he knows I have the NOC list... he'll find me." Ethan told them both.

"I'm gonna go in and I'm gonna talk to Kittridge myself. And I'm gonna tell him you had nothing to do with this." Claire told him.

"Claire, if you're not dead... he's gonna assume you're with me." Ethan said. He then looked at Lorelai. "Same goes for you, Lorelai. You're not with IMF, he's gonna get suspicious—"

"I wouldn't blame him. I mean, you got a mole hunt going on and an Eclipse Agent... I'd be cautious too." Lorelai stated, crossing her arms.

They all turned their attention to the computer saying: message waiting.

"The message is for Job." Claire warned.

"That's right, and I'm gonna answer it." Ethan replied.

Job, Corner of Nekazanka and Prikopy. One p.m. Buy a pack of Dunhill and ask the man sitting on the bus stop bench for a match.

Suddenly, Lorelai was getting deja vu, but shook it off. She walked into the bedroom, sitting on the edge of the bed. Lorelai's head darted up when she heard footsteps approaching. Her brows furrowed when she saw Ethan standing there.

"Why'd you accept this mission?" He asked.

"Accept a mission?" Lorelai questioned, confused.

"Yeah, you know... should you choose to accept this mission..."

Lorelai blinked in confusion once again. "You guys get a choice?" She muttered.
