Jennie always wanted a nickname. Something that stuck. All the other girls in the group had nicknames, Rosie, Lali, Chichu. The girls had tried to help Jennie with suggestions, calling her Jen here and there but Jennie hated it. She was used to being called Unnie by the 2 youngest members. She accepted that was just the way it was, until her girlfriend thought of the perfect nickname.

Jennie came home after work, tired and ready for bed. She walked in through the front door, kicking off her shoes and dropping her bag. Her girlfriend, Y/N, practically flew down the stairs and straight into Jennie's arms. "Hi Baby." Jennie said with a sigh of contempt. She buried her face into her girlfriends neck, leaving small kisses. "I missed you." Y/N said, dropping a kiss to the top of Jennie's head.

They both walked to the kitchen. Y/N began making dinner while Jennie talked about her day. "It's just all the girls have nicknames the fans came up with or they grew up with and I'm just Jennie." Jennie said with a huff. Y/N laughed lowly, "The best Jennie I know." Jennie smiled and looked at her girlfriend, "Thanks babe. I just want something that sticks and it has to be cute because Jisoo kept calling me Jen for a while and that was not cute at all." Y/N let out another laugh before setting a plate in front of Jennie.

The girls finished dinner and made their way up to bed. Jennie went into the bathroom, going through her skincare routine. Y/N followed after getting changed, coming up behind Jennie and put her arms around her waist, resting her chin on top of Jennie's head. Jennie looked at her through the mirror, smiling. "What about J?" Y/N suggested. Jennie pondered for a moment. "Hmm... It's okay but too short." Y/N just nodded and kissed Jennie's cheek.

Y/N got into bed and played on her phone waiting for Jennie to join her. Jennie made her made out of the bathroom and hopped into bed, cuddling up to Y/N. Y/N put her phone on the nightstand and held Jennie close. "What about Jennifer?" Y/N suggested once again. "It's a nickname, it's not supposed to be long." Jennie laughed. "I appreciate your help baby but I just have to accept the fact that I'm just Jennie." Y/N sighed and kissed Jennie. "Well I love just Jennie so." Jennie laughed and kissed Y/N again. "Just Jennie loves you too, goodnight baby."

When Y/N woke up, Jennie was gone. She picked up her phone from the nightstand and saw a text from Jennie.

Jennie: I'm sorry I left without saying goodbye but I had practice and I didn't want to wake you up. I love you, I'll be back soon <3

Y/N smiled at her phone. She looked at Jennie's name for a while before it hit her. The perfect nickname.

Jennie's phone dinged in her pocket and she pulled it out. Jennie opened the text from Y/N. She smiled her infamous gummy smile. Her heart fluttered upon seeing the nickname. It was perfect.

Y/N: I love you Nini <3
