Murmurs and gossip about the infamous sea monster of the ocean was not uncommon in your town. There have been rumors that he's an evil kraken like creature that attacks any kind of ship it sees. It's been known to eat humans trap them using it's long limbs. It lives alone in an old, dark cave away from other merfolk. Little do they all know that he's your only friend.
Your POV
"Why are you so weird?" One of the mean girls, Sammantha asks.
You ignore her, continuing to work on your art. Your teachers always scolded you for doodling art during class but you could care less.
"What is this?" She suddenly grabs the piece of paper of your desk and you panic, trying to take it back but she holds it out of reach as she looks at the drawing sketch you did of him.
"Is he your boyfriend? Or... are you stalking him?" She smirks before crumpling the drawing into a ball and throwing it to the front of the classroom. You sit there, trying hard not to slap her.
"Aren't you gonna go get it before Mr. Lee comes back?"
Before you can reply your teacher walks back into the room with this weeks graded tests. He's ready to hand them out before Samantha raises her hand.
"Mr. Lee! Y/N was-"
The ball of paper on the floor is nowhere to be seen. It's gone.
"Well what is it Samantha?" The teacher looks impatient.
"Y/N was... just showing me how to do this math problem." She pretends to smile at you.
"That's nice Samantha." The teacher rolls his eyes as he gives everyone their tests back.
"Seriously though." Samantha whispers to you. "Who was that man?"
You ignore her, looking out the window of the classroom where you can see the ocean view from it.
A shy face comes up to the surface of the water. His large, dark tail is swaying from side to side as you approach him. You see he has the drawing you did earlier in his mouth.
"Taehyung." You crouch down on the sand in front of him.
He takes the drawing out of his mouth, smirking before handing it to you. It's still slightly crumbled up, and now wet.
"It was supposed to be for you but-"
"It's pretty." He shows his signature smile. "The wind brought it to me."
"Oh, I see." You blush, putting it down on the ground to the side. "I haven't seen you in a while. Have you been okay?"
"Yeah, fishermen are getting closer to where the mermaids are so that means I have to be more careful
