Sometimes during dance rehearsal
I'll escape to an empty hallway and practice
on my own when no one is around

Just me
some music
and a few memories

That's all I need to feel myself
close my eyes and tip toe over the
slippery floor like frogs on lily pads

It's beautiful

To dance like that

Alone

That's when I'm in my element...

Dancing in peace

I don't need a thousand people looking
at me to perform, just a quiet room because
darkness and silence can be enough

Nothingness can be enough
even when it might be nice to have
an audience smiling at the art you created

So don't disturb me when I'm
dancing, because one day you'll
find out I wasn't actually dancing alone-

I was dancing with
all the emotions that can't
stay still in my brain
