Back before the world was even a thought, there were five gods. Theseus, Katano, Mitra, Lyss, and Gia. Theseus was the inventor, creator. He was the one to shape the world and galaxy as we know it. Katano and Mitra were identical and inseparable. They took control over the solar system. Mitra took the Sun and Venus through Mars. Past the asteroid belt, Katano took the rest. These were their space to do with as they pleased. Mitra only saw that two of his planets could harbor civilization so he put all his love into those two. Sadly, one fell to destruction leaving only one of the two. Earth. On Katano's side, his planets were inhabitable as they were too far from the sun. Still, these planets were his and his alone. So he put all his energy into making them habitable and it worked... for some time. One day, the god disappeared from the celestial realm and hasn't been seen since. Lyss was the mother of the gods, Theseus being the father. Her job was to keep the celestial realm under control and take care of it all. Though shortly after Katano disappeared, her mood fell into disrepair and she too disappeared without a word. Gia, the last of the five and not the favorite. That is thanks to how rebellious she was against the other four. She believed there should only be one god and thus, she left. The celestial realm went under a war led by Gia and Theseus. Without Lyss to keep it all under control, the celestial realm was split into two. One where multiple gods can rule without problem and one that some may find more well known. A singular god rules above all and the humans most worship. Gia has caused turmoil among the gods and her teachings have led even the humans to fall to turmoil. Many humans of her religion think that she is the only religion when that is false. Sadly, that hasn't stopped anything from all the chaos that arose from the book she wrote and shared with the humans. To this day, Theseus reigns at the top with Mitra at his side and both Katano and Lyss have yet to appear. Maybe, they aren't as far as some think...
"What a stupid story..."
Alex closes the mythology book that he was to return to the shelves of the library. He gently placed the book in its place. "I can't believe someone would check that out and waste their time reading it."
Placing his hand on his chest, he realized he left his name tag... again. He groaned quietly under his breath and made a mental note to put that by the door tonight... Not like he'll remember to do that either when he crashes in bed. Just as he turned on his heel to leave, he heard someone pull a book from the shelf. A heavy book. Just like the one he put away. Turning to face the stranger without thought, he was met with quite the sight. This stranger... This man was the most odd looking. Long pink hair that shifted to blue at the ends and yellow bangs to top it off. It was amazing how vivid the colors were. It didn't help that this man's skin was a light cocoa making the colors stand out even more. The clothes weren't any less strange despite being only white and black. The shirt was tight against his skin almost like he was revealing every detail of his body. The sleeves... What was up with the sleeves? They were detached from what barely could be called a shirt. Down farther, the pants at least were a normal pair of slacks next to colorful boots to match the hair. Was this person a cosplayer? Alex had never seen a cosplayer in person as this town was quiet and small. It was amazing there was a library in it in the first place. After Alex was done staring for what probably was an embarrassing few minutes, he turned his head away out of embarrassment. "Sorry... I didn't mean to stare," he whispered quietly so his voice wouldn't crack.
The man smiled softly. Oh boy was that smile so attractive. Again, Alex was staring before the man had shifted a bit, turning his head slightly to be a little more eye level. By no means was Alex short, he was in fact 6'2 which was a height he was proud of... but somehow his height was beat by this stranger by maybe a few inches. Still the man was smiling as if Alex was the cutest thing he ever saw. The embarrassed flush only continued to spread over his cheeks. Finally the stranger sat up right and spoke with a gentle voice that would make any girl or boy, including Alex, swoon over him. "You have the most lovely grey eyes I've ever seen... next to your brown hair, it's perfect."
Did he... just compliment my eyes? No one does... Anyone who looks at my eyes are always disappointed because they're almost blue but not quite... They call them false blue eyes... That comment alone was making Alex slightly emotional but he kept his composure despite wanting to cry his eyes out and hug this stranger. "Thank you... You're the first to say that."
"Am I really? I would think you'd get a lot of compliments."
"Well, yes... Most compliment my frame or how tall I am."
"Hm, yes. You are very well built. Not muscular but toned slightly and you are quite tall which would add to your attractiveness... But I most like the look of someone's eyes."
While on the topic of eyes, Alex noticed this stranger's eyes. Should he be alarmed that his eyes are pink or should he just look over that. "O-Oh thank you. Your eyes are also... Interesting?"
The stranger paused for a second before he laughed. "Yes, they are. I get that a lot... Well from those who notice anyway. Oh! I haven't told you my name. Kai, that's my name."
His name is even attractive. Alex pressed his lips together and held back every urge to ask this man on a date. Then his eyes drifted to the book in Kai's hand. "O-Oh, do you need that checked out?"
Almost like he had forgotten, Kai's eyes widened slightly before glancing to the book in his hand. "Yes I do. Thank you."
With one nod, Alex turned back on his heel leading what could be his new friend to the desk to check out the book. It seemed his heart had started to calm down as he shifted back to work mode. Scanning the code on the book, he placed the receipt in the book. "Thank you for visiting. I hope you enjoy your book."
Even though Kai took the book, he just stood there staring at Alex. "What... do you think of this book?"
The question had startled Alex as not many people ask for his opinion on books. "Oh! Well... I think it's a good story but I don't understand how someone could think it's true. It sounds like it's trying to compete with the bible as it seemed to make a reference to it."
"...Yes, it does seem that way."
Kai's expression dropped to something unreadable. Maybe sadness? Or disappointment? Either way, it seemed to squeeze at the little blood pumper in Alex's chest. "Was... my answer not the one you wanted to hear?"
Shaking his head, Kai smiled back up to Alex but this one seemed less genuine. More fake. It wasn't as attractive as the last smile and it was noticeable. "No, don't mind me. I asked and you gave your genuine answer... Anyway, I'll be on my way. Goodbye, Alex."
With that, the stranger left. Wait... how did he know my name?
