Author pov

Sunlight sneaks through the blinds like it's personally out to ruin Jennie's peace. She's buried under her blanket fortress, breathing soft and steady, dreaming of something way better than reality...until her mom's voice slices through from downstairs.

Jennie's pov :

"Jen, wake up now otherwise you're going to get late for your college!" Mom's call hits like a gentle nudge at first, but I know better. It's laced with that mom-worry I love and hate.

I crack one eye open, the room spinning a little. "Ahh... Mom, just 2 more minutes," I groan, voice thick with sleep, clutching the pillow like it'll buy me time.

Five more minutes of this warmth, and I'd be golden."JENNIE IT'S 8:00 AM AND YOUR UNIVERSITY STARTS AT 8:15 AM!" Her shout rattles the walls, yanking me straight into panic mode.

My heart slams against my ribs.I shoot up, sheets tangling around my legs like they're conspiring against me. Phone screen glares 8:02--oh god.

"Ahhhh Mom I am going to be late..." My voice cracks, that familiar dread twisting in my stomach. Late on a Monday? With Trig notes I still don't get? Disaster.

Mom sighs from the kitchen, the sound heavy with that mix of love and "why me." "I can't believe you're my daughter... Ok by the way come down and have your breakfast fast."

The smell of breakfast wafts up, warm and buttery, tugging at my empty stomach. But no...backpack, shoes, out the door.

"Sorry Mom but I don't have time for breakfast," I yell, already hopping into jeans, heart racing like I'm running from something bigger than a lecture."

Rolls her eyes Ok but... but at least get up now." I can picture her down there, hands on hips, that half-smile breaking through.

"Oh yes, thanks Mom." I grab my bag, dash down the stairs two at a time, stealing one last whiff of home before the university chaos hits.

"Mom, bye! Take care, and I love you!" I blow her a flying kiss from the doorway, my chest tight with that rushed morning love, backpack digging into my shoulder like a reminder to hurry.

"Ohh Jen, bye! I love you too." Her voice wraps around me, soft and steady, the one thing grounding me before the day pulls me under.

Time Skip >>>

The hallway hums with chatter and footsteps, air thick with coffee and stress.

My sneakers squeak on the polished floor as I spot Lisa and Jungkook by the lecture hall doors."lisa, let's go now." Jungkook's voice cuts through, impatient, his hand tugging her sleeve.

"No, I'm not going until Jennie unnie comes." Lisa plants her feet, eyes scanning the crowd like a guard dog, loyalty fierce enough to make my throat warm.

"But we'll be late for our next class." He checks his watch, jaw tight..classic Jungkook, always on time, always stressing.

"I don't care. If my unnie isn't coming, I'm not going to atten--" Lisa's words snap off as I push through the crowd, pulse still hammering from the sprint across campus.

"No, Lili, you're going to attend the classes." My voice comes out breathy, but firm...big sis mode activated.

"Unnie, you came!" Her squeal hits like sunlight, arms flinging around me in a quick hug that smells like vanilla lotion.

"Yes, and now let's attend our class. So, let's go."

I spin on my heel, leading the charge, heart lighter with her beside me.

But then--bam.

My head crashes into a wall of muscle, solid and warm. The world tilts, stomach dropping like a rollercoaster plunge.

I'm falling, backpack yanking me down ...until hands grip my waist, strong and unyielding, pulling me back from the floor. Time freezes.

His scent hits first..clean soap and something sharp, like danger mixed with mint. My skin burns where his fingers press through my shirt.

I blink up, breath snagging in my throat, eyes locking on his. Dark gaze, sharp jaw, that infuriating smirk curling his lips. Heart slams wild, a traitorous flutter exploding in my chest.

"You?!?!"

"Yes, me." His voice is low, rough velvet, eyes holding mine a beat too long...long enough for butterflies to riot. Then he releases me.

Not gently..practically shoves, like I'm toxic. I stumble back, knees wobbly, cheeks on fire as his smirk lingers, slicing through me like a promise of chaos.

Who the hell does he think he is?
