Yoshi looked around him, thinking that there was almost no hope to find any survivors. It puzzled him how anyone could live through these circumstances, even their strongest warriors had died. Although he thought all hope was lost, he continued to search, hoping for a miracle. He turned around and saw a building, almost untouched, and started heading towards it.
"Hello? Is anyone in here?" He yelled as he walked in. No response.
He continued searching through the house to see if he could find anything, a survivor or anything, really. He looked on the wall to see a picture that saddened him. It was a picture of a family; two boys one girl, a mom and a dad. Just looking at it made him think of his own family and all the good times they had together. Now when he looked around, all he saw was fire, burned down buildings, dead bodies, and the distant sound of someone screaming. "Wait, screaming? As in a survivor? Or maybe even a group of survivors?" Yoshi thought as he ran out the door in a flash.
He looked around and listened for the screaming again. The loud breeze muffled the sound, but he had great hearing and heard a scream again. It came from about one hundred yards away, so he could make it there in a minute.
He dashed as fast as he could, running his stamina lower by the second. He was expecting to find maybe an Ice Monsie that needs help, but when he arrived, he saw a sight that scared his skeleton out of his own skin.
People from Earth walking around in an area, acting like nothing had happened. None of his own kind were mixed in the crowd, and no one was screaming. He looked to his right and saw a music box with sounds of people screaming coming from it. He looked back at all the people and jumped back, slipping and falling to his side. Everyone there was staring at him with a smile that stretched far up their face. They looked at him with a demonic look in their eyes, almost like they wanted to kill him.
"What's happening? How is this possible?" Yoshi said to himself, looking at all the people.
He watched as they came closer to him, almost as though they were growing. The one front and center stood out to him, making him grow terrified.
"You can't be serious. It's happening again!" Yoshi yelled.
Yoshi decided to pick a fight with a school bully a few years back, resulting in him getting a concussion that gave him severe but temporary brain damage. He would tend to hallucinate crazy stuff that scared him and even his family just by hearing stories. He slurred his words and had crazy nightmares that made him wake up screaming in the middle of the night. He also would hear random things, like whispering voices coming from nowhere.
He would have one dream "series" that always made him scared, and still did just by thinking of it. Every other night, he had a mightmare that he would call "iungere nobis", Because that's what the people would always say in his dreams.
The first one started off with him and his dad at the markets down town. He looked around and everything was fine, but when he turned to his dad he saw a human staring at him with a creepy smile, saying "iungere nobis". He woke up screaming and didn't want to go back to sleep.
A couple days later, he had another one like it. He was running and came across a dark alley which he turned into. He found out the alley was empty and a dead end, the only thing filling it were him and shadows. He turned around and saw a mob of people staring at him, repeating the same words over and over again. "Iungere nobis." They said, the words echoing in Yoshi's head over and over again.
Once again, a week later, he had another dream. This time, though, he wasn't sure where he was. It looked as though it was his room, but mixed with some dark abyss and a room he had never seen before. It was small, too small to run or for anyone to hear you scream. He paced around the room, trying to find a way out. But there was no door, no windows, no exit. He closed his eyes to think, and opened them to find himself in a large, empty room. He turned around and saw a mob of people staring at him with that same, haunting smile. In the center was the man he saw that replaced his dad at the market. They all walked towards him whispering "lungere nobis" over and over until they pilled on top of him. He described it as they "absorbed" him, but it didn't make much since to anyone else.
When he woke up, he went straight to their dictionary. He searched and searched, but couldn't find anything on the words "lungere nobis". He thought maybe it was a different language, perhaps one that wasn't even native to "The Mythic Isles", so he checked books at school to see if he could find any information on it. He found a specific book called "The Languages of Earth", so he started to read. After about a month, he stopped having the dreams and still hadn't found anything on "lungere nobis". Then he came across a language called "Latin", and he just about had a heart attack when he found the words. It translated to "join us".
"Lungere nobis." They all repeated, slowly coming closer to him.
He stared at the human in the middle, instantly recognizing it. It was his dad, or at least what replaced his dad in his dream all those years ago.
Were those dreams supposed to tell him something? Were they a warning for what's next to come in the future? Either way, he was now surrounded, injured, and didn't know what to do. The music box started playing a different tune; "su pleh" it repeated over and over.
"Great, another language to look up. Can't wait to find it out what creepy thing you guys are trying to tell me now!" Yoshi exclaimed.
It was as though the people were zombies or something, only wanting him. The one he had stared at for so long that looked like the one that had replaced his dad was now a few feet in front of him. It stopped and stared at him.
"Lungere nobis?" It said to him, almost as though it was saddened.
Yoshi was confused, because it acted as though it wanted his help, but at the same time it felt as though they were trying to kill him.
"Wait, 'su pleh'... Oh! I think I just got it!" Yoshi exclaimed.
