I grinned as I got ready for bed, happy that Madre and Padre were letting me go with them.
"Nico?" I looked up to see Mario standing in the door frame of my room, holding something.
"Si, Mario. What can I do for you?"
"Nothing, my boy. I just wanted to give you something before you leave." He said, holding out the box he was holding.
Taking it I placed it on the bed before opening it. Inside was a short sword and underneath it was a set of robes, slowly I took out the sword placing it on my bed. Turning back to the box I took out the robes shaking them out. They looked like father's. I moved to put them back in the box when something caught my eye, underneath the robes were a set of small hidden blades.
"Uncle, are you sure I'm ready?"
"Yes, Nico you are. You started training as soon as you could hold a sword."
"Grazie, uncle." I said, hugging him.
"You're welcome. Now get some sleep." He said, walking out of my room.
"Okay." I said, placing everything back in the box.
Smiling I climbed into my bed, blowing out the candle.
-----
The wind banged against the window, jumping up I looked around. There was a bang, it sounded like it came from Uncle Mario's study. Getting out of bed I picked up the short sword the Mario had given me, slowly I made my way to Uncle Mario's study. I stayed close to the shadows, when I saw that a book shelf was pushed aside, revealing a door and Mario, who was coming out of the door, turning around he pushed a button causing the door to close. I melted farther into the shadows, holding my breath when Mario headed in my direction. When he was out of sight I slowly made my way to the bookshelf. I felt around for the trigger that would open the door. I felt a small indent, grinning I pushed down on it and the door slid open. A smirk formed as I made my way down the hard marble stairs. When I reached the bottom I stood there for a moment, taking everything in. The statues of Assassins that had lived before. I walked to the statue that was in the middle, looking up at the statue of Altair Ibn-La'Ahad. Papa had told me about him, I want to be just like him when I get older.
I looked down at the bass of the pedestal that Altair's statue was on, there was a glow coming from it. Running my hand along the edges I found a latch, pressing down on it a click sounded and a piece of the pedestal opened, revealing a small round golden ball that was pulsing, hesitantly I reached out a picked it up. I gasped at the warmth that was coming from it. The glow started to get brighter, I tried to put it back but it was stuck to my hand. I tried to close my eyes but I couldn't. I covered my eyes with my other hand but light still seeped through my fingers. I screamed as it started to heat up. Images started to appear in my head but I didn't understand what they were. I saw mother and father , a strange man I had never seen before. I saw a tall building made out of metal.
"Nico!" I heard mother's frantic voice.
More images appeared but these showed me strange buildings that seemed to glow and people that were dressed in strange gold clothes.
"You are the one. You will be brought back. You will be the last of our kind."
A woman said, she seemed to glow. She had brown hair that were pulled back by something that looked like a crown.
"Juno what have you done?" Another voice echoed through my head.
"What needed to be done, Minerva."
"Ezio, get that thing away from him!"
"I can't! It's fussed to his hand!"
"Nico can you hear me."
I screamed when a felt a searing pain in my left eye. The pain was unbearable, causing me to black out.
