[Shadow Arisen Arc] Chapter 1: Fallen Light

It just another normal morning for Reinhard Huxley, as he prepared the breakfast for him, his nephew, Shawn and his niece, Emma. Both his big brother's son and his big sister's daughter is staying at his place for a few weeks because it was school holidays and both of his siblings think that the two teenage should spend time with their uncle.

As Reinhard cracked the eggs and poured the batter, he couldn't help feeling a little sad that he was still single in the age of 25, while his big brother was married at the age of 19, and his big sister was married at the age of 18. "I didn't even have a serious relationship yet," he mumbled to himself while preparing the breakfast. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

Curious, Reinhard set down the spatula and walked toward the door. He reached the door and slowly turned the knob. His heart racing, he opened the door and was greeted by the sight of two teenagers, a boy and a girl, standing outside with a big grin on their faces.

"Hey, Uncle Reinhard!" they both said at the same time. Reinhard's eyes widened as he recognized the two as the kids of his brother and sister. His big brother's son and his big sister's daughter had arrived to stay with him!

Shawn and Emma walked into the house, feeling completely relaxed and at ease as they glanced around at the large, expensive, and technologically advanced surroundings. The house was nice, even for their standards, as their parents house was even larger, more luxurious, and more technologically advanced.

"Uncle Reinhard," Emma said, "I'm kinda hungry, do you have any breakfast?" Shawn laughed at her question and rolled his eyes.

"Of course, follow me,"Reinhard said.

Shawn and Emma follow him into the dining room and saw that Reinhard had already set the table up with a delicious breakfast of pancakes and bacon.

"Wow, you're even better at cooking than mom, Uncle Reinhard,"Shawn said with a grin.

Reinhard shrugged sheepishly as he carried the plates of pancakes and bacon to the table, where the kids were already seated and waiting for him. He sat down at the head of the table and poured them each a glass of orange juice while Shawn and Emma helped themselves to the food.

Shawn and Emma dug into the
delicious breakfast, taking bites of the fluffy pancakes and crunchy bacon as they looked around the dining room. Shawn was the first to break the silence as he glanced up at Reinhard.

"I bet you don't get very many visitors here, huh," he said with a grin.

Reinhard nodded, amused by the comment. "No, not really. But I don't like to have lots of people around, anyway. Too much noise and chaos," he said. Emma looked up at him, her forehead wrinkled as she was deep in thought.

Shawn and Emma finished their breakfast, their plates cleaned and their appetites satiated. Shawn was the first to break the silence again.

"So Uncle Reinhard," he said, looking at him intently, "what do you do all day out here?"

Reinhard glanced at him and shrugged. "Not much, I guess. I do patrols every now and then, but most of my time is spent reading." Emma perked up when she heard this.

"Really? What do you read?" She asked with a bright smile on her face.

Reinhard smiled at seeing his niece smiling. "I mostly read biographies, science textbooks, history books, and some of my sister and brother's books."

"You read some of mom and uncle Jack's books?" Reinhard smiled and nodded,

"Yeah, I think it's only right. They work so hard on their research, I want to support however I can." He chuckled to himself as he started to remembered reading through some of their research papers. Emma and Shawn's eyebrows went up in curious
