CALLS OR MESSAGES from kayden never arrived, much to yeong-cheol's displeasure.

however, the texts from his 'sort-of' apprentice brightened the blonde's mood despite kayden's obvious tries to dim it.

jiwoo updated yeong-cheol on his 'sort-of' mentor's journey into un-feline-ifying himself back into his former (human) glory.

pictures of an unsuspecting fat orange cat were definitely among the blonde's favorite texts, especially those where jiwoo managed to catch kayden completely by surprise and ruin his mood.

he really would've liked to visit once more, but the chance never seemed to come. jiwoo was still busy with school despite his healing leg injury and kayden never seemed to be home.

yeong-cheol suspected it might've been because of dr. delein and his voluntary surrender to the union (he had yet to visit as he had promised the old man). the blonde was still waiting to be cleared for access to both wooin and the doctor himself.

the dark haired boy with circle framed glasses, who yeong-cheol had now learned to be named wooin, had been taken in by the union as a precaution for working under delein.

the blonde hoped they were treating him well — he knew all about park seongha's carelessness for children and his harsh temper.

due to shinhwa's alliance with the union (though it really wasn't an alliance, more like a half-assed mutual agreement), yeong-cheol had also gained allies of sorts among the ranks.

as an unaffiliated awakened one, he was often used in missions where he would be disposed of secretly if he were to ever be tied to the union. it was easier that way. lose no soldiers, rather bury the enemy that is currently your ally.

the union seemed to love such a philosophy. but this was a neck-for-neck world, so it did yeong-cheol little to no use dwelling on whether their next move would be to use him or to get rid of him.

life was cutthroat, and only the mighty would keep their spot on top. lucky for the blonde, the peak was where he was on, even when he constantly tried to get off.

WITHOUT MUCH TO do other than laze around hoping his power didn't short-circuit and cause some other world-class disaster, yeong-cheol grew bored of watching the ceiling of his room.

the sun was burning, his stomach was growling, and he was barely keeping his patience on his phone, three small dots loading for what seemed like ages.

jiwoo had texted that he would be busy because of training, and began typing something before pausing and never sending the text.

while yeong-cheol had no doubt in the amber eyed kid's abilities, he still felt worried over the boy. he was young and inexperienced, after all.
