[character debrief]

just a quick backstory of the characters we've been introduced to so far.

ezinne.

born 3rd july 2000

the main character, ezinne is a 15 year old girl from tottenham, north london. as the oldest child out of her and her little sister and as a child of divorce she feels pressure to be perfect, be a role model for herself and make everyone around her proud. she is in year 11, set to take her gcses in may and june of 2016. ezinne maintains a good relationship with her father and although her parents are separated, her mother and father remain civil for the sake of the children. she is used to travelling up to manchester during school holidays to see her dad. as a personality ezinne is quite outspoken although only in places where she is comfortable - she tends to stay in her comfort zone, and if she was to step out of it, it for certain wouldn't be without holding the hand of someone else such as her bestie manuelle. as far as boys go, she had tried to stay away from them, ezinne with a first hand view of a broken relationship through her parent is scared about what happens when you take the risk of investing in someone for so long just for it to not work out. it also doesn't help that she is very interested in true crime and at the back of her mind constantly plays that true fact that 2 women a week are killed by their former or current partners.

jadon.

born 25th march 2000

a 15 year old born in camberwell and raised in kennington. football was his first true love, and started playing at 5. eventually recognised by scouts at his local club, he made his first move to watford and in 2013 he moved up north to play in the manchester city youth academy. during the holidays he comes down to london to spend time with friends and family. he has and older sister called latia and a few half siblings on his dad's side. he does love football but is frequently home sick, he tries to mix with his teammates up north but they don't really understand him, so in his formative teenage years he struggles to build a proper personality and social confidence for himself. although when he comes down to london, he sees how his homeboys act and tries to 'fit in' as he doesn't really see them that often. jadon frequently attempts to grin his true feelings but there is always a pit of nervousness in his stomach because as a person he really doesn't know who he is and instead let's the people around him mould him into what they think he should be.

manuelle.

born 10th october 1999

manuelle was on only child and her parents were also separated. she knew who her father was although had no contact with him, he was frequently in and out her prison . her mother was an angry woman, quickly frustrated and would lash out at manuelle. so manuelle would look to find comfort in boys/men as she didn't feel loved at home. always on the streets and messing with the wrong crowd, ezinne was definitely the only reason she was alive right now. she constant seeks male validation and general empathy from those around her. she was the type to spend a double period arguing with the teacher about seats, and also the type to trade a good friend for a boy. speaking of boys, she'd always fall for the boys who'd make her feel like shit, they could cheat on her infront of het face and she'd still take them back because it must've been something she did wrong. how did nanuelle and ezinne become friends? sort of the opposites attract. one day in yr 9 ezinne saw manuelle sitting alone at lunch time a befriended her, but because of the nuisance that manuelle was it saw ezinne lose her other ones - so they were kind of forced to get close. manuelle constantly tries to change her looks for the male gaze, which physically and mentally exhausts her, but to her it doesn't matter as long as they're happy.

david.

born january 1st 1998

born in sierra leone, his family moved to london when he was two. now in 2015 he is aged 17 years old and he has an older brother who is currently at uni in scotland. david is the only character so far that whose parents are still together david is the epitome of a younger sibling, he gets away with murder. leaves the house when he wants and comes back when he wants. he got kicked out of college a long time ago but his parent don't know because he blacked the school phone number and email and checks all the letters that come to the house. bit of his parents are at work during the day, so he 'gets ready in the morning' just to pretend he's going to school but goes to the street corner and to sell drugs and chirps girls. there's been a couple close calls but as of yet he hasn't been caught. due to his freedom at home he subconsciously believe that it extends to the real world, he is presented as an apathetic character and is known for having a new girl on his arm every day. manuelle was one of those girls and he struggles to shake her off him so he entertains her, while still maintains his playboy lifestyle. him and sancho met last year and share a mutual friend called reiss who used to live on the same block as david.
