Jasper's P.O.V

Silence all around. Everyone's sleeping but me. Those burning red eyes. Those eyes are stuck in my brain. They're a picture I cannot remove.

I decide to get up and get a glass of water. As I'm walking down the stairs I hear the TV on. It's either grandma or dad.

When I get into the living room my dad lays asleep on the couch. He fell asleep watching a replay of a football game. I decide to get my glass of water before I even awake him. When I'm done drinking it, I walk back into the living room and turn off all the lights and the TV.

Shaking him I whisper, "Dad, wake up." He has his bedroom because grandma took the extra bedroom, and the boy have Jaysons room.

"What?" He says, waking up. Nearly spilling the Coca Cola in his hand.

"It's three-thirty in the morning. Why don't you go to your bedroom?" I ask. Now I sound like a mother.

"Oh, thanks." He says as he gets up from the couch. I walk back upstairs to my bedroom and see Kyla awake on her phone.

"Why aren't you sleeping?" I ask, tiredly.

"Oh, I just woke up. I don't need sleep anymore. I won't bother you." She says as I lay down. I pop The Hunger Games: Catching Fire into the DVD player.

"I'm staying up with you. I can't get to sleep. To many things going through my mind." I sigh as the movie begins.

"My mom usually has me right down my thoughts and worries on a piece of paper before I go to bed so I can get to sleep. But it doesn't really work." Kyla says. I shrug then continue watching the movie.

I awake in the morning by Kyla who stayed up the rest of the night. I don't remember dozing off but apparently I did.

We go downstairs to see everyone awake and happy. Grandma makes breakfast with Jayson while Will, John, and Jo play.

I decide to get dressed and ready for the day before I eat.

At the table, all of us sit and enjoy the plate if bacon, eggs, and pancakes. I compliment them on their work, mostly because Grandma asked me how it was.

After breakfast, Kyla and the others have to leave. Grandma has a book club and Kyla and Johns parents want them home soon with Will.

Since it's Saturday I decide to take Jolynn out for an adventure. We find a few salamanders and bugs inside rotting logs. I spot a deer at the shore munching on some grass. I take a picture of it.

"I'm tired." Jo says.

"Alright I will take you back home." I say, before I follow her back to the house. When we arrive Jo runs up the stairs. I call to her, "Tell dad I'm going out alone." She nods.

I have worked up all the courage in my body to go back to the pond. I just don't know why, but I want to see him again. It's just so weird.

As I reach the pond, I notice him standing there looking at the squirrels playing in the trees. I sigh, which makes him look at me.

"Zayn. I'm sorry for being so scared. I've never seen a vampire before. Unless they are in movies." I say, ready to run if he does anything.

"Jasper, I understand." He says, sitting in a tree stump someone had put there.

"Now, tell me why you come here." I order him. He looks up at me with those red eyes again. I stand in a bit of shock.

"To get away from my parents. They don't want me in the house, since...you know." He says, then looks away from me.

"I'm sorry." I sigh, looking down at him.

"It's not your fault and I don't want to bring guilt to your life." Zayn says, his red eyes staring back into mine.

"Okay." I say, awkwardly, not knowing what to say.

Notes

She may start liking Zayn.

Or she may just want to be friends?

Who knows yet? The future holds it.
