Don't tell me to take a deep breath
When you regulate the air I breathe
I will not calm down for you
Because you can't handle my anger
I won't get on the ground
I have been in there far too long
I refuse to look you in the eyes
Not of humiliation
To be like this is to be humiliating
But for the way you see me
To see that reflected in your eyes
I have been through a lot
So don't you downplay me
If you don't acknowledge my humanity
Why should I acknowledge yours
So I will not lower my voice for you
