They were in the middle of interrogating/threatening a man on how he managed to smuggle jewelry in when Miri's kindergarten teacher called.

"Hello? Is this Kazuki-papa?" Miri's teacher asked. "Uh- yes this is Kazuki-papa. Is Miri-Chan alright?" Kazuki's voice had a twinge of worry in it. He looked over at Rei who turned his head a bit, silently asking what was wrong.

"Ah- yes Miri-Chan is alright it is just that she is running a slight fever, if you could pick her up-" Miri's teacher was cut off. "A fever?-" Kazuki pulls the phone away and covers the speaker and loudly whispers to Rei, "You let OUR kid go to school with a fever!? Ugh!" He moved back to talk into the phone, "Sorry about that, we will be on our way right away!!" Kazuki exclaimed with an extremely irritated expression. "Ok, I will get Miri-Chan's stuff together for the next few days. Be careful on the way." Miri teacher hangs up.

Kazuki looks back at Rei and nods his head towards their getaway vehicle. Rei nods his head and shoots the man they were interrogating. Kazuki was in the car waiting for Rei to get in. Rei takes the passenger seat and cleans himself off and gets rid of the blood and gunpowder on his suit. Luckily for Kazuki he missed the messy part and didn't have to change when they pulled up to the school. Once Kazuki parks the car, he hops out and jogs to the front door of Miri's school.

"Oh! How may I help you?" The lady in the front office asked him. "Yes! Miri-chan's teacher called me and said that she was running a fever!" Kazuki responded kinda out of breath (ironic considering that he is a contracted killer). "Ohh..! You must be Kazuki-papa! If I can see your id really quick, and then you can go and get her from the nurses." The lady said as she took the id Kazuki handed her.

When he got his id back he made way back to where the nurses office is located. "Miri-Chan?" Kazuki peaked his head in the nurse's office before stepping in. "PAPA!" Miri ran to him with her arms wide open "Hi, Miri! How are you feeling?" Kazuki asked as he picked Miri up and held her up to his chest.

She immediately wrapped her arms around his neck and nuzzled her face into the crook of his neck. "Hello! Miri's fever went down a bit but she did unfortunately get sick to her stomach and threw up. So she can't show up to school for at least 2 days.." the nurse said, looking at Miri with pity in her eyes. "Jeez, I'm sorry Miri... we make sure you feel better when you get home." Kazuki let out a sigh and gently scratched at her scalp. "Thank you for watching over her," Kazuki whispered to the nurse as she waved him away.

He walks back to the van, and slowly puts Miri in her car seat. Once she was fully buckled in, he backed away slowly and sat down in the driver seat. The ride home was silent mostly due to both of the men being too scared to wake their daughter up. After a couple minutes they arrived at their apartment. Kazuki decided that it would be for the best if he dropped Rei and Miri off, while he goes to the pharmacy to buy medicine for Miri.*'

* Rei slowly walked up to the stairs to their apartment, fumbling with they keys and trying to keep Miri still. After a minute or two he gets into their apartment and kicks off his shoes, and brings Miri up to his room. He thought it was for the best as the room has bright color sheets (because Rei took all his black sheets to the bathtub, and Kazuki despised how the room looks bare with no sheets) and would bring some type of comfort to the girl as it was quite in his room and the color would be nice to her.

He pulled the comforter off the bed a little and paced the girl in on sheets before removing her shoes and coat. As Rei was removing her jacket he could see the red lines that it made in her skin as it was too tight for her now. He made a mental note to tell Kazuki that they really needed to get her more clothes. She still only had one outfit and it won't take long before someone notices.

Rei tucked Miri in and was heading to the door to pick up his mess so Kazuki wouldn't be even more annoyed at him. As he was closing the door he heard a quite and small plea, "Stay Papa-Rei... i am scared.." Rei stopped in his tracks. He opened the door and looked at Miri, not sure he heard his daughters plea right. "Miri...." He looked away trying to think of something to say to calm the little girl down. He couldn't think of anything, besides he not good with words so he is bound to make Miri more upset if he says something. He let out a sigh before removing his own jacket and slid into bed next to the little girl, who immediately clings onto him like sloth does with a tree.

Rei felt a little uncomfortable as he wasn't a big fan of physical affection or touch. But.. this felt kinda nice. He slowly wrapped his own hands around Miri and starts to rub circles on her back. A move he learned from Kazuki. Kazuki had saw him in his weakest moment but never made fun of him even now that they are older. Then again Kazuki may have forgotten about the breakdown Rei had when they were young. It was comforting to him in a moment of chaos, so maybe it would work of Miri. It did, she immediately relaxed and feel asleep. Rei felt like he was following in her footsteps, listening to her breathing was reassuring that she was alive and alright. Soon Rei had feel into a peaceful sleep.

—————————————————————————' Kazuki was walking the aisle of the pharmacy with a look of confusion on his face. He thought that Miri might have caught a cold due to not having proper clothing for the weather. He found a kids cold medicine and thought that this would help. After all it said fever and nausea reducer on it. He brought the bottle to check out along with a bag of masks and a thermometer, when a mom stopped him. "Are you buying medicine for your kid" she asked him. "Actually, yeah. She is running a fever and threw up but I am not totally sure if this is what she should get.." he trailed off looking at the bottle. "You should get her some stomach medicine and then some fever reducers" the young mother responded.

"No! Don't" a grandma responded handing Kazuki 2 bottles of something and taking the bottle he had in his hand. "She most likely has a cold and just got nervous about being sick and threw up. The smaller bottle is nausea medication, if she gets sick to her stomach give her this. The bigger bottle is medicine to stop her nose from running and for her to stop coughing, it will knock her out that way her body can fight the virus and the fever will go once the virus is not as a big of a threat it is now." The old lady responded.

"I- Thank you! Both of you for the advice!" Kazuki smiled at the old lady and the young mother before checking out. He got in his car and drove to their apartment. Once he got there he got the bags and went up the stairs quickly as to not waste anymore time. He opened the door with his keys and almost tripped over Rei's shoes. He was about yell at home when he heard snoring come from Rei's room, that he only used for gaming. 'Weird...' Kazuki placed the medicine on the counter and slowly crept up to Rei's room and poked his head in. What he didn't expect was the domestic scene that he saw before his own eyes. Rei looking extremely handsome and relaxed and Miri looking so peaceful, wait why is Kazuki think about his BEST FRIEND LIKE THAT?!!! He shook his thought's away, and pulled out his camera to take a picture of the scene. He sighs in an adoring way, before turning around to head back downstairs to make dinner for everyone.

Miri woke up to the smell of tomato soup. Her stomach growled and she woke Rei up and asked him if he would take her downstairs. Rei was in a really good mood so he agreed, besides the entire apartment smelt good. Once both of them were downstairs Miri jumped from Rei's arms to Kazuki's leg. "Ups ups!" Miri demanded, voice raw from coughing earlier today. Kazuki decided that it would hurt for him to oblige to her request to be held when he was cooking. He lifted her onto this hip and help her there as he worked on cooking. It looked like this was his 100,000 time doing this with Miri. It looked so natural, Rei watched with a light smile on his face. He snapped a picture of Kazuki and Miri for keep sake before joining Miri with clinging onto Kazuki by wrapping his hands around Kazuki waist and planting his head in the crook of Kazuki's neck. "Don't tell me that both of you are sick." Kazuki's voice was a little higher that normal and flushed from the backwards hug that he was receiving from Rei. Some where in the back of both their minds tells them that they wished that this would happen all the time. But for now, this was enough.
