The next morning, driven by anticipation, you rose early and left your home with a sense of purpose. Your heart brimmed with eagerness for Clive, knowing that his momentous announcement awaited him. With determination in your steps, you made your way to the kingdom's castle.
You made sure to leave a thoughtful note for your mother before you left, informing her of your safe return from the night before and explaining your early departure. You knew she would understand, as she always did, and it eased your mind knowing you had kept her well-informed.
As you walked through the familiar streets of Rosalith, the sounds of daily life surrounded you, blending harmoniously with the rhythmic chiming of the castle bell, signaling that it was now midday. The marketplace was alive with activity, merchants calling out their wares, and villagers going about their daily routines, creating a vibrant atmosphere that you had grown accustomed to over the years.
With each step, your anticipation grew. The castle gates loomed before you, standing tall and imposing, guarding the secrets and traditions within. As you approached, the castle Shields gave you a nod of recognition, acknowledging your presence as a familiar face.
As you stepped inside the front garden, you spotted Jill standing there with Torgal by her side. The sound of your entrance caught her attention, and she turned around with a warm smile, waving to greet you.
"Y/N! You've made it!" she exclaimed happily.
"Good day to you, Jill! Has the announcement already begun?" you inquired as you walked over to join her. Torgal, ever the loyal companion, wagged his tail in excitement, his eyes filled with affection as he looked up at you. Unable to resist, you smiled and reached down to pet him gently on the head. "Hello Torgal", you greeted.
"I don't believe so. Clive was preparing himself as I came out here, which wasn't too long ago," Jill answered, concern evident in her voice. "He must be nervous."
"Nervous?" you asked, slightly surprised.
"His entire family came all the way to Rosalith just to share this moment with him. He probably does not want to make a shame of himself," Jill explained.
"I see," you replied, understanding Clive's apprehension.
The two of you engaged in some small talk to pass the time, discussing various topics to keep the atmosphere light and pleasant. Torgal added to the conversation by pawing at the ground and occasionally letting out a playful bark.
Suddenly, you heard footsteps and the sound of clinking armor from above and both of you looked up towards the portico to see none other than Clive himself moving towards it. As soon as Clive stepped forward on the overlooking balcony, you noticed how he took a deep breath, steadying himself. Anxiety was evident on his face.
When Torgal's barking caught his attention, Clive glanced downward and noticed both you and Jill standing below him with supporting smiles. The sight of familiar faces, especially yours, instantly brought a sense of comfort and reassurance to him. With a slight smile playing on his lips, Clive acknowledged you both with a nod of gratitude. It was apparent that your presence meant a lot to him, especially during this significant moment in his life.
And not long after, Joshua appeared next to Clive on the portico. Their brotherly bond was perceptible as Joshua reached out and took Clive's hand in a show of support and camaraderie. A reassuring look passed between them, symbolizing the unbreakable connection they shared. You and Jill watched from below, witnessing the heartfelt moment between the two brothers. With a small nod of approval from Joshua, Clive's confidence seemed to grow even further. It was clear that having his brother beside him meant the world to Clive.
