All three of them entered the ballroom at what was basically the same time, from the entrance facing their side of the island.
Fionna, on the Duine side, was dressed in a dark blue gown. The bodice was stiff, forcing her to keep her back straight and squeezing her slightly. She pulled at her elbow-length sleeves, the lace of which was starting to itch. The sweetheart neckline was the least of any problems— the extra layer of glittery silk on the skirt bothered her most if she was being honest.
"I look stupid." She said to Cake.
"You look beautiful." Cake corrected.
"I can't even hide any weapons in this!"
"That's the point. Why would you need to, anyway? It's not like that demon is going to bother you here."
"Ugh..."
"Go talk to Prince Gumball." Cake said, giving her a little push. "Go on! The whole point of this is so that you talk!"
On the Dulce side of the room, Prince Gumball entered with Lord Monochromicorn at his side, wearing a purple coat with a hat, pants and a vest to match. His shirt, gloves and cravat were a pristine white, and his shoes shined so much that they glistened in the lamplight.
He took in the sight of the ballroom, before glaring at someone hanging around the entrance from the demon-vampire side of the island. "What's he doing here?!"
'Maybe he came to see the princess?' Lord Monochromicorn suggested.
"It's far more likely that he came here to pester me, as usual." Gumball snapped, taking off his hat quickly and tossing it to the side. "We have to get him out of here before he causes more damage!"
'More damage?' Lord Monochromicorn asked. 'Why not just go talk to the princess and ignore him?'
"If I try, he'll likely destroy something valuable." Prince Gumball huffed. "No, he must be dealt with."
'But the princess...' Prince Gumball was already storming towards Marshall, leaving his friend in the dust.
Marshall, for his part, was dressed in a simpler version of Gumball's clothes. His were maroon, with a simple tie instead of a cravat and it appeared that he had foregone the hat and gloves. His eyes were fixed solely on Fionna, before he began walking as quickly as he could towards her.
Now, one might suppose that the three of them ended up chasing each other around the room for the entire night, but in actuality they met in the middle, much like Middleground itself.
"Prince... Marshall!" Fionna said, caught off-guard by his sudden appearance.
"Fi... wait a second, you." Marshall said, turning from his beloved momentarily to glare at Gumball.
"Yes, me.... ah, pardon, Princess. I'll deal with this ruffian." Gumball said, glaring back at Marshall.
Marshall moved closer to Fionna. "What are you doing on Middleground anyway?" He asked.
"The wedding's being held here." Fionna explained.
"I could ask you the same question." Gumball huffed, crossing his arms.
"Yeah... Fi can't marry you yet." Marshall replied.
