Izumo Kusanagi takes it into his own hands to explain everyone's shock. "Our King's name is Mikoto Suoh, everyone here-"
"Mikoto?!" I cry. "I thought he was dead.."
"How do you know him?" Yata blurts.
"M-Mikoto is my brother," I say through labored breathing.
A long time ago I was sent to school in Japan. I never knew what became of Mikoto. Then my parents sent a letter saying he was dead. I want to see him.
"That would explain the red hair," Kusanagi chuckles. He hands me a drink and I take a sip. It's alcoholic and I've never drank before but I push through it. "How old are you, my dear?"
"17, Mr. Kusanagi-san," I reply with another sip of the drink. He smiles and looks at the drink in my hand. He pushes the glasses on his face higher on the bridge of his nose.
"Since Yata is the youngest MALE member in the bar right now, I assign him to guard you during your stay."
"R-really?" I blush and turn to look at Yata. He's so cool. It'll be awkward around him since I like him a bit..... or a lot.
"Yata, take her out to eat. She's to be treated with the same respect as the King. Do not let me down."
"You got it, Mr. Kusanagi," he says while gripping my hand gently. I follow him out of the bar and he lets go as soon as we're out of sight. "So... you thought Mr. Mikoto was dead this whole time?" I nod at his question. "I'm so sorry, Aria," he says and embraces me. Misaki is taller than me by about 4 inches. Ugh, I hate being short.
It takes a moment for me to realize what he's doing. "Yata.." I say his name softly but it sounds more like a moan. "S-sorry," I mumble. He smiles for the first time since I met him.
We come across an array of different restaurants, some American, some Japanese. I choose an Asian buffet. "That one, Yata, that one!" I giggle.
We sit down to eat after getting our plates and I dig in. I didn't realize how hungry I was until now. I was so distracted by the festival preparation that I didn't even eat. I finish and look at him with admiration. The beanie, the headphones, the skateboard. He's a thug but a sexy one at that.
"Y-you see something you like?"
"Hmm... maybe," I grin cockily. He pays for the food then takes me to a clothing store. I try on all kinds of clothes and I buy a lot too. Then I decide to mess around with the chestnut haired skater.
"Don't look, Yata! Not yet!............." I change into an outfit that closely resembles his. I can't wait to see his reaction! "Okaaaaaaaaaaayyy........ NOW!" I twirl out of the changing room. His eyes widen and blush begins to consume his face.
"Y-you actually look kinda c-cute..," he mumbles.
"Thank you, Yata-chan!" I giggle a bit more. He pays for it and we leave.
"W-where's the sweater I got? I can't f-find it," I say with chattering teeth. It was growing dark and cold and all I had on was a tank top.
"Here," he replies, pulling off his sweater and handing it to me.
"But aren't you cold?" I ask slipping it over my head, secretly taking in his scent as the fabric passed my nose.
"I'll be fine as long as you're warm," he says softly. I thank him and hug him. But I feel him wince.
"What's underneath that bandana?"
"Nothing, I'm fine."
"Yata..."
"It's a stab wound, okay? Now shut up about it."
His cold tone scares me a bit and I don't want to make him angry. I mutter "Oh," and stay quiet the rest of the way back.
Kamamoto is the first to comment on my outfit when we walk back in. "Whoa, is it me, or do I see two Yata's?"
I ask Kusanagi for a small soda and drink it before I go to sleep. "Y-Yata.. here's your sweater back," I say offering him the shirt.
"Oh, uh, you can keep it, Aria," he smiles kindly.
My eyes become extremely heavy and I yawn a bit. Kusanagi orders Yata to take me to a room so I can sleep. It's pretty spacious with a queen sized bed. The window on the far right side of the room shows some of the city lights. My fingers trace the patterns on the comforters and the soft fabric envelopes my fingers.
I take off my outfit and my bra to put on a small black shirt that comes an inch or two above my belly button and a red pair of short sleep shorts. "I'm exhausted, Yata-chan," I mumble, crawling under the covers.
"Sleep well, Aria. I'll take you to school in the morning," he says just before he leaves.
"Please, just... stay with me, Yata."
His face turns red. "I- uh, just let me tell Kusanagi. Be right back," he leaves and I feel my eyes getting even heavier. 'Hurry...' I think to myself. He returns with a slight smile gracing his features.
"I'm here, now go to sleep." His voice is kind and caring as he sits in the lounge chair near the window.
"No, I mean, I want you over here with me.. in the bed."
"Uh.... oh, um, yeah. Sure, I guess," he starts rambling uncontrollably. I giggle sleepily as he scoots under the covers. He unties the jacket around his waist, takes off his shoes, his headphones, and finally his sweater.
"Thank you, Yata-chan," I whisper and cuddle close to him. He tenses at my touch but eases into it. My head rests on his chest, and my arm around his waist. I close my eyes and snuggle into the skater's warm arms.
Maybe tomorrow he won't be as hesitant.
