Firstly, this is a modern-day AU, Tech exists, mobile transportation, etc.
Secondly, since ofc I can't forget the antagonists, the 'Demons' are now just a rival high school called Akuma Academy while the 'Demon slayers' Attend Kimetsu Academy. Both schools have dormitories. The rivalry is simply put, just sports and musical/theatre arts programs have rivalries.
Third, in my AU, Tanjiro's (Age 15) family still dies two years prior to the current timeline, not Nezuko (Age 14) though. He gets taken in by Sakonji Urokodaki (Age 52) who is the adoptive father of Giyu Tomioka (Age 21).
Fourth, some ages have been altered for plot purposes, the Hashiras that are of age are teachers/directors at Kimetsu Academy; Giyu, Tengen, Iguro, Gyomei, Kanae(0o0), Sanemi, and Kyojuro. The twelve kizuki however are all high-school students except for the top three, who are teachers/directors. (Muzan is the principal/chairman of Akuma Academy and Kagaya is the principal/chairman of Kimetsu Academy.)
Fifth, Tanjiro never cut his hair short, never had any reason to. (I liked his long hair in the episode that he cut the boulder so that's its current length.)
Sixth, I'm putting Nezuko in Jr. High/Middle school because I can. (Muichiro and Yuichiro will be with her as well. They ended up getting adopted by none other than Kagaya and his wife themselves hehehe)
Seventh, The Kamado family died in a house fire, aside from Tanjuro who died of an illness, Tanjiro was present and that's where he got his forehead scar (Bc trauma hahahehehe). Nezuko was not home at the time, she was at a friend's house. (Bc I can)
Eighth, Zenitsu is as normal as he can get, he doesnt bend over backwards to try and get a gf/wife since he wont die to any demons in this AU lmao, Inosuke is passive aggressive and still his very flexible self, his momma is alive bc I wanna be sweet to our boar baby, but he is fatherless.
