GORS VELEN - Temeria

Yennefer had to hear him incorrectly. He was asking her on breakfast? This witcher was full of surprises.
But she looked at him doubly. "No."
Geralt got surprised, but he didn't show it on himself. She really said no? He thought she cared about him. Well, at least a little..
He tried to answer calmly. "Why?"
Her face changed. "I don't have a time to explain you why. I'm busy. You're weird. Goodbye." She started leaving from him.
Geralt was just staring at her back totally confused.

ONE DAY LATER

Geralt was eating his dinner when the bard sat down to the table with a huge smile. "Hello, my friend."
The witcher continued in eating a bean soup without looking at the bard.
Jaskier's enthusiasm disappeared "That's how you welcome your best friend?"
Geralt ignored the word best friend and answered him. "What do you want Jaskier?"
"I want to hear the news."
"What news?" the witcher slurped the soup.
"Can you stop pretending disinterest?" The bard frowned.
"I'm not pretending anything."
"Oh' God, you're unbearable. No wonder women don't want you." Jaskier rolled his eyes.
Geralt stopped eating for second. Then he tried to act normally. "Women do like me."
"Really? Then where is that crowd of women starving for your witcher's charm?"
This time witcher didn't mange to hide his face expression.
Jaskier noticed it but he couldn't take it back anymore. "I'm sorry Geralt. I didn't mean it like that.. I.."
"I know exactly how you meant it. Who would like to have a man without emotions.." the witcher stood up from the table. "I'm done eating." he started leaving from the table.
"Geralt, wait!" Jaskier called at him. "Don't go.." he said sadly.

Geralt was walking through the streets. He didn't know where he was going but he needed to walk to clear his mind. He still had some time before meeting with Vanderhout. He wasn't angry on Jaskier, he was angry that what he said was true. He was just a grumpy witcher about who has nobody cared. A mutant unable to feel something real.. No wonder Yennefer refused him. She would never waste her time on someone like him.. and no one ever will.
He heard him coming sooner than he opened his mouth.
"Geralt! Wait, please!"
The witcher slower his steps to give him some chance to join him.
The bard suddenly appeared next to him. "Geralt, I'm sorry. Don't be mad at me." He was catching his breath while he was trying to join his tempo of walking.
"I'm not mad at you."
Jaskier got surprised. "No? But I thought.."
The witcher interrupted him. "I'm mad at myself."
The bard got even more surprised but he stayed speechless.
After couple of seconds Geralt sighed. "I'm emotionless.."
Jaskier raised his eyebrow. "Emotionless? What? But that's not true.."
The witcher interrupted him again. "It's true!" He raised his voice then he continued more calmly. "I don't feel anything Jaskier, I'm worse than a stone.. totally heartless." Geralt said with disappointment.
"Well, maybe you're grumpy as stone but you definitely do feel. I have seen it many times already." Jaskier said honestly.
"But nobody besides you see it." The witcher stated.
"If you would stop being so stubborn all the time then maybe someone would finally see it too."
"Hmm.."
"But you have to look at it positively. You have at least one person in this world who cares about you."
"Who?"
"Surely me." Jaskier said proudly.
Geralt laughed. "I couldn't ask for better company."
"So, you see." The bard said with laughing. "Now, tell me how you're going on with the investigation."
"None. I told Vanderhout everything what I found out from that fisherman. Since then I don't know anything else."
"He didn't tell you more?" The bard raised his eyebrow.
"No, why?" Geralt was confused.
"Because in the morning I heard they arrested the murderer of Lady Swenska sister."
"Well, he clearly forgot to mention it." Geralt smirked.
"Then you out of it, aren't you?"
"No, I'm not. I'm going to meet him now. He had called me." Geralt explained.
"Oh, that's.. very uneasy." the bard admitted.
"It is."
"And what about that witch Yennefer?" Jaskier asked him with curiosity.
"What about her?" Geralt pretended no interest.
"You two have talked to each other, right?"
"And?" The witcher raised his eyebrow.
"No spark?"
"What the hell are you talking about Jaskier? What spark?"
"There was no spark between you?"
"No, there wasn't." the witcher started frowning.
Jaskier started laughing. "So, she made an impression on you then."
"I didn't say that." Geralt rolled his eyes.
"You didn't have to. Your face is telling everything." He laughed again.
"I failed to make an impression." The witcher paused. "On her.." He lowered his eyes.
Jaskier shake his head with smile on his face. "Geralt, Geralt.. you haven't learn anything. She's Yennefer of Vengerberg. You can't expect from her she will fall for you after one day. She's not just any woman. You have to earn her admiration.. and believe me she won't give it just to anybody."
The bard continued in talking but Geralt was thoughtfully staring in front of him. His mind was currently hit by hurricane with thousands thoughts..
