Requested. Love story part 2 🤭

There I was again tonight forcing laughter, faking smile, same old tired lonely place.

The year was 2020. Aaliyah was the new girl at a new school. And they hated it. They had met Chris just a few weeks in. He was the school athlete and they was the new new girl. There was so many cliques and nobody dared to cross over. It wasn't cool to like skateboarding and musical theater. And if you did like it, you definitely kept it a secret. You would think that at this day in age things would have changed but no. It didn't.

Chris was wonderstruck by Aaliyah. He liked Their brown hair and brown eyes. He liked they way they ignored drama and always was reading a book in their free time. He could tell Aaliyah didn't care about the fanciest clothes or the cliche cliques and deep down he wish he could have the same mindset as them.
For Chris he had to be the athlete. He couldn't have any other interests. He had to do well in school to get into a good college and date the prettiest girls and be the star athlete. Sometimes he wish it could all stop for a few minutes. But he knew his parents would never understand.

The playful conversation starts, counter all your quick remarks like passing notes in secrecy

Chris was failing history badly. His teacher had been on him for a while about it. So he took his free period to go down to the library. As he started looking down the shelves (because he had no idea of where to look for a library book) he saw Aaliyah standing in a aisle. He smiled to himself and knocked over a book on purpose unbeknownst to Aaliyah. They smiled and pick up his book.
"Um I think you dropped this" they said as they handed him the book. Chris chuckled "oh yeah I love this book".

Aaliyah tilted their head. "You love learning about the quantum of physics?" They said with a smirk. Chris rubbed the back of head. "Oh yeah absolutely it's my favorite thing to read in my down time" Aaliyah just laughed and Chris laughed along with them.
"Tell me your favorite part about the quantum of physics" Aaliyah said with their arms crossed, while staring at Chris.
As Chris tried to come up with an excuse in his head, he eventually said "yeah I don't know shit about the quantum of physics" with a laugh. Aaliyah shook their head laughing and agreed with him.

They made small talk about the things they liked and what they didn't like. They talked about where Aaliyah was from and how Chris would be the perfect tour guide. And when the period ended Chris had a frown on his face. He was enjoying himself so much he didn't want it to end. But Chris and Aaliyah both knew they couldn't be seen together. So the last thing Aaliyah did was help him find his history book and then they departed. Aaliyah was also sad that they had to part ways.

However Chris found ways to keep talking to Aaliyah. Whether it was through bookmarks or notes in their lockers. One night Chris had decided he wanted to see Aaliyah. That the notes weren't helping him stay sane. He needed to see their smile and hear their laugh. It was risky but he knew what he wanted. Aaliyah could feel the adrenaline as they walked to the football field. Their biggest was waiting at the field and Chris never arriving but as soon as they walked up to the entrance, they saw Chris and a huge smiled appeared on their face as they saw him turn around and look at them. After that night they had many more nights on the football field.

The lingering question kept me up 2 a.m who do you love? I wondered too I'm wide awake

Aaliyah knew they was falling for Chris. However Chris wasn't a feelings guy per say. And even if he was he never had time for relationships. He was too busy practicing lacrosse and trying to get his grades up. His parents and teachers had started getting on him more and more and so he starting not leaving notes in Aaliyah's locker and one night, a night that he was supposed to meet at the football field, well he didn't show. Aaliyah sat their for hours until it started pouring. So the next day when Aaliyah went back to school they decided to leave a note in his locker explaining how they waited and he never showed. And that they was done. All Aaliyah wanted was Chris to be the guy that he was with them, but all the time. Chris was upset about what happened and blamed himself but he never tried to make up for what he did. Instead he focused on his studies and sports while he pushed Aaliyah to the back of his mind and everyone noticed a difference in him. He wasn't the happiest and always seem upset about one thing or another.

As time passed, the seasons changed but the everything else stayed the same. Aaliyah was walking in the hall when they noticed a flyer on their locker. It was a flyer talking about the upcoming masquerade ball. One thing Aaliyah loved was the older times where people went to balls with masks on so you could tell their identity. It was mysterious yet beautiful. Aaliyah smiled at the flyer and stuck it away in her bag.

Chris also saw the flyer and it was him who taped the flyer to their locker. All the times they had hung out and spoken to each other he loved to listen to them speak about how they loved the Victorian era. You see Chris had started to leave little notes in their locker again and he even waited at the field at night but Aaliyah never showed up. So Chris decided that the flyer had to work or else he didn't know what to do.

This was the very first page, not where the story line ends. My thoughts will echo your name until I see you again.

The masquerade ball was packed. And everyone's identity was mystery. Everyone in their dresses look amazing and almost intimated Aaliyah. Chris stood in the room and made small talk with his brothers and friends but the only thing his mind was Aaliyah.

In the weeks before many girls had tried to ask Chris to be his dare to the ball but he respectfully declined. He waited and waited for Aaliyah to ask him but they never did.
When Aaliyah finally showed up to the ball, all eyes were on them. Their gown was the lightest shade of purple with sparkles everywhere. Their hair was flawless curled and their make up was on point. When Chris looked up he knew the girl in the dress was Aaliyah. And people swarmed around Aaliyah even the typical mean girls. Chris had patiently waited until everyone left. He slowly walked up behind them and said "please don't be in love with someone else. Please don't have somebody waiting on you".
Aaliyah turned around and saw Chris. "Isn't that what they say in the fairytales?" Chris asked.
Aaliyah nodded their head and said "yeah something like that".
Chris Aaliyah walked somewhere more private. "I know I fucked up. I should've kept my word. And I know this is no excuse but I got so busy with work and school and the pressure to be the best Just got to me" he said as they stared at the stars in the sky. Aaliyah spoke up. "You know I would never make you be something you don't wanna be. I like it when it's just you and me. Because when your with me, your exactly who you are now. And if whoever expects you to be something else then they aren't your friends and they don't really care for you". Chris nodded his head and looked at Aaliyah. "And this is why I really like you. You never want me to be anyone else but me" he said. He took off his mask and Aaliyah took off theirs as well and they kissed underneath the stars in the night sky.

"I was enchanted to meet you"
