There was an abandoned unnamed shrine deep in some unknown woods. A group of very talented (or very foolish, hard to say which) Humans found it. There wasn't much left. But the shrine held remnants of the old magic lost to time and much more. After messing around, the Humans made a grave mistake. And thus, Slender Father appeared. That same night, the Humans responsible for his existence were gone. Forever. This was when the legends began. Slender Father built a grand mansion deep in the woods and called it home. The same woods where he had first appeared. But there weren't any ordinary woods. It was more than alive. There was malicious magic flowing through the territory. The trees seemed to have faces. The creatures were unlike anything anyone had seen. Some were beautiful spectacles. Others were terrifying nightmares. He bestowed the current name, the Slender Woods.

Eventually, Slender Father met a woman. She was his saving grace, literally because her name was Grace. In time, Grace had many sons. His mansion grew along with his family. In all, they had seven. The times he let his sons venture into the Human world were few and far between. They had to have a very good reason and be very convincing. Even then, his answer was usually no. The forest gave them everything they needed. The Humans had nothing to give or even offer. Slender Father had been summoned eons ago. He knew Humans. And he hated them all. Contact with "their kind" (as he unaffectionately called them) was strictly forbidden. However, he knew curiosity would take its toll in time. He didn't want to believe it. But reality had its ways.
