i stepped closer to him, the mans face switching between emotions as we took a moment to look at each other, my head nodding at the question of my name, not sure how to react to him
"kazutora told me you know where-"
"stop." i spoke abruptly, slightly putting my hand up as i already felt tired of talking about them, the man becoming confused while kazutora stayed quiet
"im not here to tell you where they are, it'd be best for you to go back home." i used my raised hand to scratch the side of my neck as his confusion grew
it felt like i reunited with these guys just to disappoint them.
"but.." he started, my head shaking in response as kazutora leaned on the gas pump next to us, sliding his hands into his pockets
"you're gonna die for nothing, takemichi." he said, a sense of melancholy in his eyes as takemichis fists balled up, the shine he had when he was younger panning across his irises
"i promised i'd help them." he spoke in a serious tone, my lips pressing together as i looked at him, my exhuastion obvious
"i wouldn't be standing here telling you this if they wanted help." i said bluntly, knowing it was a bit harsh for the both of them but i had no other way to say it, they were too eager and idealistic.
"how about we talk about it over a drink, i need one." i tried to lighten the mood, being met with silence before kazutora shrugged, a bead of sweat practically sliding down takemichis temple, probably wondering if we were serious
"i dont mind" kazutora walked towards the car as takemichi looked back and forth rapidly, watching the both of us get inside the vehicle
"hey! wait!" he exclaimed, quickly hopping behind the drivers seat as me and kazutora shared a somewhat humorous look
"you can pick a bar, im too tired to think of any." i yawned, letting my body lay like silly putty in my seat as kazutora started pulling out of the parking lot
"is this really him...?" takemichi thought to himself, eyeing me with doubt as he seemingly conjured up more questions
"how do you know where they are anyway?" he asked, my eyes closing as i lazily answered, feeling tired of repeating myself
"was basically kidnapped." the two had equally shocked looks as i yawned again, not paying much mind to either of4 them
i wanted to sleep more than drink at that point...
the conversation felt like forever, the more i explained, the more questions seemed to flood in. it became clear why i was so against bringing them back though, the two going quiet as they seemingly ran out of things to say and just sulked."what do we do then?" takemichi threw yet another question out, my shoulders going up into a shrug as my heavy eyes looked down into my glass, staring at my rippled and exhausted expression in the cold liquid
"avoid them, i guess." i didnt know the answer myself, the only thing i had going for me was barely making it by, nothing gave me a second of rest to think of a solution.
"hey, you should tell him about that upcoming event" kazutora spoke towards takemichis direction, taking a sip from his glass as the other looked at him then me, a somewhat embarrassed smile on his face
"im getting married" he had a stupid grin as i raised my brows with surprise
"really? is it the same girl?" i asked, recalling takemichi having a girlfriend in middle school as i rested my hands on the wooden bar
"yeah, dont you remember hina?" he looked at me like i had memory loss as i nodded, slightly tilting my head in a "well..." sort of way
"we haven't talked in almost 9 years. wouldn't think you'd have the same woman." i tried making the statement sound a little humorous, taking a sip of my drink as his brows furrowed down, not sure what to say
