"HERMAÑO, I HAVE TO tell you something."
He looked up from his plate of food before staring curiously at her, "What is it?"
“I-” She closed her mouth, contemplating what words to use as she was afraid to distress her brother. “Remember when I told you about the One9content position that I applied for with my portfolio?”
“Yes?”
“I got accepted,” she grimaced, not wanting to look at the facial expression her brother might have. “I love you very much, but I have to take this opportunity. I don’t want to always seem like a burden to you. I want to make you and everyone proud of me…”
Not a noise was heard from her brother as she closed her eyes, wishing that she would rather be somewhere else at that moment.
Shocked. She felt a warm sensation, as she opened her eyes to see her brother give her a big hug. She looked across the table to see Ana, looking rather teary-eyed, giving her a thumbs-up.
He pulled back, giving her an empathetic nod. Tears threatening to escape. “Baby, I would never be mad at you for this decision. I would honestly be an idiot for you not to go to Europe. I mean… that is where all the football players are. I’m so proud of you.”
At this point, Ariel was openly sobbing, hugging her brother again. “Myke…”
“Are you going to finish your studies?"
“Of course! I always have my head buried in my books anyway.”
The trio laughed, and the atmosphere seemed to lighten up, which made Ariel be in a better mood overall.
Myke pondered his thoughts right before the words slipped out from his mouth. “Can you promise me this?”
“What is it?”
“Promise me that you would never get involved with any of those football players. Nothing good ever comes from getting involved with them. Trust me, cause I know. I know how these muthafuckas a━ .”
