I still wonder how you're doing.
{ Mean (Taylor's Version)}
Max's POV
As i'm going the final lap. Assuming Allie is still close behind me because of how well she was doing. I notice smoke start appearing in the sky,
upon closer inspection a small fire. I park my car and run out of it.
"Allie!" I yell. "Allie come on we gotta get you out of here. Please hold on Allie I need you please we have to get you out of here."
The fire starts getting bigger. The rain not helping in my effort to save her. The rain beginning to slide me all around making my efforts harder.
"My love please hold on please push." I keep trying. She begins to kick her legs to attempt to get out of the car. That is beginning to burn my face funny enough. When I pull her completely out I pick her up bridal style, and jog away from the car.
"Max what was that?" She asked, rubbing her head. I set her down on my car.
"That was you with the wrong tires, and i'm not sure what else. I'd have to check the footage in your helmet." I inform her, the guilt begins to eat at me.
"You saved my life."
"We never should've raced in the rain Allie, it was my fault" I face palm so hardly. She could be injured.
"Max I'm an adult. I could've said no. YOU saved my life. It wasn't your fault it happened. If you weren't here I would've died." That's the Allie I know. Always so reassuring.
"Let me get the porsche out here and we will get you out of here." I run out to the parking lot and get in my car. Immediately driving to where she is. I get out of the car in a hurry.
"Can I call Toto, I feel bad this is his track." she says, with a pleading look. I nod and get her phone out of the side of the passenger door and hand it to her. While she talks to Toto I pace around the car. Their conversations not interesting me a whole awful lot. When she gets off I throw her a smile.
"Thank you so much Max. you're so awesome." she smiles back, and a pink tint is evident on her cheeks.
"It was nothing, really love." I grab her head gently.
"I'm serious. I would've died. I just stopped."
"You're a smart girl you would've figured it out. I just helped." I lean closer.
"You're so cute when you pretend to not be a hero." She throws her hand over her mouth. God she's so cute. I can tell her mind is spinning 1000 miles a minute at the moment.
"Stop thinking in that mind of yours and just kiss me." I roughly say. I smash my lips onto hers. she kisses me, all of my troubles with my dad, kelly, and racing in general begin to melt away. I don't try to pull away, wanting this moment to last forever. Once I finally pull away, we both give each other a shocked look. Did we seriously just do that.
"I need to get seen. I never would've done that in the right state of mind." she panics.
Well that's definitely not what you want to hear.
"Am I just not good enough to be kissed on a not possibly concussed basis?" I smirk.
"You have a girlfriend. An extremely hot, probably could kill me girlfriend."
"You're right. That was wrong. She's my family Allie. I can't believe I just did that to her." Is that what she wanted? She begins to walk into the car. Getting in the door I opened to make it easier on her. I see her leaned against the window. I get in and sigh. "Let's go get you checked out. Then you'll probably be sent home." she just nods at me. This is what she wanted. Im not sure why she's acting like this out of nowhere, but it's not
enjoyable.
I speed back to headquarters. I need to get away from whatever just happened. That crash took my Allie. This isn't the Allie I spent the day with. She starts to daze off.
I panic, "Love please stay awake."
"Max it's hurting more now." my heart. I rub her leg. I might be irritated, and so is she but it's not fair to her.
"I'm right here. I'm speeding we will get there fast." I promise her. When we pull up I hurry and park the car. I pick her up from the passenger seat.
"Max I'm really okay. I'm just being a bother." she tries to tell me. I just hold her tighter and begin to walk her to our medical station.
Of course, we have to pass Christian, "Hello Max. This is new, i've never seen you transport your PR managers like this."
"We had an incident at Silverstone. I need to get her to medical." His face drops. She waves to him slightly. I can see the energy draining out of her body.
"Very well, move quickly." He says getting out of my way.
I set her down on the medical table as we approach it. "Please help her. We had an accident while racing, and she fell on her head. I didn't mean to do this to her. I can check the footage and see what happened."
"Max, we have her. Check the footage, then come back." the nurse says to me.
"I'm okay." She whimpers out. I go to kiss her head, but remembering what happened with us at the track I pull away. I get her helmet out of my car and take it to an office to review the footage.
"What happened Allie." I whisper to no one but myself. I hook it up to the computer. I rewind it to where I passed her, it's hard to see over the rain.
I see her begin to lose traction on the track. Quickly after that her steering wheels locks up. The camera shows her trying to turn the car. A tear rolls down my face as I hear her whimpering and breathing heavily. I get spooked by her throwing her hands over her head. Then I hear the crash. Her breath stops for a moment. Then quickly picks up incredibly fast.
I see the smoke, then the fire. Why didn't she start moving? She was right, she just stopped. As the fire begins to get bigger, she unclips her seatbelt, and her back falls to the ground with a 'thud' Pretty soon after that I arrive. I hear myself yelling for her. I hear the fear in my voice, and still her heavy breathing.
I run back to the medical station.
"In the crash she hit really hard, and when she undid her seatbelt she fell on her back or neck." I tell them. Slightly out of breath from how fast I was running.
"Max. She's definitely got a concussion and some moderate burning. Which means you'll have to behave until she gets back." The nurse explains to me.
"I'll take her home. I don't trust an uber." I help her off the table.
"Max i'm really fine." she tries to reason.
"It's no worries Allie. Let me help you, please." I plead.
She goes silent. Her consistent silence worries me. She's always quiet, the car, now, in her office. Unless she's talking to fucking Daniel. Then she loves to talk.
I assist her in walking to my car, and then put her in the car. When I get in, she's still not talking. I can see tears float her usual happy eyes. I don't know how to comfort her. I just drive quickly to her home.
I help her out of the car. Something i've done a lot today.
"The code is 3368" She whispers. I quickly put it in. She does her wave at whatever his name is. I hate him. We enter the elevator, this cues her break down.
"Oh Love, what's wrong?" I ask her.
In between her hysterical sobs she answers, "we're gonna be so behind and Christian is gonna fire me, and i'll have to go back to Germany."
"I won't let Christian fire you, and i'm gonna behave the entire time you're gone. All you have to worry about is getting better." I smile at her. She gives me a half grin. I can't see through it. It feels so fake.
When the elevator stops I lead her to her apartment where she uses her keys to get in. She gets greeted by Aspen, her damn man hater cat.
"Hi baby!" she smiles. I smile at her pretty face.
I lead her to her bed as soon as she sees it she collapses on it. I adjust her, and cover her up. When I hear her soft snores I give her a kiss on the head. The one I should've gave her earlier. It was just her reflexes, but she soft smiles at me.
For the first time all day, I check my phone.
Kelly❤️: why aren't you home yet sweetheart? i've been waiting on you 🫶🏼
