Chapter 5: Spare One

It was now four days after the team discovered that the brunette was from another earth. But things were still not going well. Teo stayed in her room and on two occasions was caught trying to flee the cave by Superboy or Robin. Each time she got busted she would rush back to her room and barricade the door to it as best she could. Even though Conner could easily use his Kryptonian super strength to open the door. Robin and Wally said that it would make things for them even worse then they still were. Whenever she was seen out of her room via security cameras in the cave food was left out for her. But she wouldn't touch it. Making the others become worried for her even more with even the league taking notice whenever the team were given missions.  Some of the team soon turning on each other for the past nighty six hours with the person who lots of them saw before as their friend. "We could reveal to her our secret identities. Show that we aren't a threat to her" Zatanna thought out loud. Trying to think of a way to make things better. Robin replying that he doubted it would work. Even if he went against what Batman had told him. Wally suggested that they bake her a chocolate cake to say sorry. Remembering that she liked chocolate a lot. Only for Kaldur to say that for days she hadn't been eating anything. Thinking out loud that she thought the team would try to hurt her in some way using the food. "This is all M' Gann's fault" Artemis said. Finally not being able to take anymore of how things were going inside her head. The archer saying that she shouldn't have looked into Teo's mind. "If it wasn't for me looking into her mind. We still wouldn't have known that the earth she was from had all of us as fictional cartoon characters. This information has helped both the team and the league" M' Gann said. Trying to defend what she did. "All at the cost of her seeing all of us as the bad guys. Especially you M' Gann" Robin said. Looking angrily at the shapeshifter before she countered back that they all saw her as one of the bad guys before hand as well that day. "...somebody please help me...I have. to get. out of here...or else I'm going to die here" Conner heard the brunette whispering to herself. Using his super hearing to check on her. The words making him frown as part of him blamed himself for what happened then. 

 "We need to talk" Batman told the team. Standing by the entrance to the room. A scowl clear on his face. The team knowing that it was about her. The dark knight and other members of the league were all at the cave. Conner telling them all what she had done. Zatanna telling them how little she was eating. "Following this intel we have pieced together that Teo was from an earth where the justice league and the team didn't exist as people. That Klarion took her to this earth..." Batman said. Theorising that either the brunette was that target because of what her brother had told her surrounding their lives being a part of a TV show. Or that it was someone else from her earth he was after. The light wanting to use her to get to the real target they had in mind. The dark knight then said that the league would take her to the watch tower and bring her back to her earth. But Wally protested saying that so far she was still scared of the entire team. Wanting to prove to her that they weren't what she thought they still were now before she'd leave. Robin adding that they still didn't know if Klarion was still trying to get her. "This is no longer your problem...having her stay here was a mistake" Batman said. Looking even more unhappy. Both Superman and Superboy heard something from the living quarters of the cave that sounded like an animal. The team not knowing if it was Wolf or something else when the other heroes noticed and they all went to investigate. Followed by the league. 

They got to the room and saw that it was Teo trying to flee again. Only this time she appeared to be more animalistic from hunger. Green Lantern catching her using his ring to make a cage and stopping her escape. But she turned around and began trying to claw and scratch at the heroes who'd caught her once more. The brunette looking like earlier she was trying to flee again before she began acting ferule. Now Growling and hissing at the young heroes from time to time as her stomach growled and her eyes now appeared to be clouded grey and full of anger and hatred. The blue they usually once were appearing to be nowhere in sight as she sounded like an animal or a zombie. Robin said that they couldn't send her back to her earth in her current state. Both Superman and Black Canary agreeing with the boy wonder looking concerned for the young teen. "Just give her something to eat here. Who cares if its even a candy bar" Green Arrow said. Only for Artemis and Red Arrow to remind him that she wouldn't eat anything in the cave. Teo noticed Superboy in the crowd with M' Gann and snarled at the couple. Both Miss Martian and Superboy now feeling guilty about what they had done to the girl who used to be their friend. All while it looked like Teo wanted to claw someone's face off as she tried to swipe at them again as she tried to push herself through the green bars.

She then tried to shake the cage apart only for the possession she was hiding in the pocket of her red hoodie to start coming out. Her Snowy being safe in the bag Wally had given her before. But the photo of her child self with Tilly fell out of her hoodie. Now being in a black photo frame that Conner had given her around the same time Wally gave her the bag. The Kryptonian wanting her back then to feel safe and know that she had friends. Now seeing as the framed photo fell that it looked like the fame would break hitting the concrete ground. Only for Wally to catch it using his superspeed. Saving the photo. But the team still looked sad. The teens she'd met before all seeing that it appeared the time she was once friends with any of them. Now appearing to be just ancient history. The growling brunette soon saw the photo Wally was holding and it appeared to make her calm slightly making the others take notice. Her eyes slightly becoming less grey during so. Making one of them have hope. But not much. "...Teo?...I don't know if you can hear me...or any of us. But I'm sorry for what I did to you...you didn't deserve what happened to you" Conner said. Getting closer to her. Robin telling him to be careful. Before the Kryptonian surprised his friends by giving her a peck on her cheek. The brunette still being somewhat calm thanks to the photo. But only hissing in response to what the Superboy did. Superman then turned to his friend Bruce and said that he had an idea that would help things out for the brunette. Saying it might be good for both her and the team before she was sent back to her earth. 

Green Lantern and Superman took her to Smallville and then to the Kent farm. Saying she could stay there for a few days until she was better. Adding that the team could still see her before she left. But added that it needed to happen slowly over time. So that if they were to say goodbye that it was on more of a better note then what it was at before. Green Lantern got rid of the cage he created using his ring and the brunette looked at her surrounding more in curiosity. Before the man of steel said her name and revealed to her a cheese burger.  She quickly rushed to him and grabbed the food. Looking like a zombie about to feed on it's unfortunate victim. Only to stop herself and look at him in slight confusion before sniffing the burger. As if she could have smelt if the food had been tampered with before she looked back at Superman. Her eyes still looking greyish but showing curiosity, hunger and anger. "It's okay Teo...you can trust me. I won't hurt you" Superman said before she went back to the burger, tore off the white wrapping around the food and soon started to eat it. "Hopefully she'll be able to forgive us...forgive me" M' Gann said as her and the team watched the brunette from a distance as Superman introduced Teo to his parents. Artemis said that it would take time. Before Robin said that some of them might already miss her. Looking at Superboy. "I think she might be okay now" Conner said. Having a small hopeful smile tug at his lips. Before Wally said he was slightly jealous that Conner got to kiss her first. The team seeing her going inside. Burger wrapping paper in one hand and cuddly toy in the other. Before they left to get back to the cave via the bioship hidden close by them. Hoping that one day they would become friends with her again. Before she could go home to her family.
