You think you got what it takes?

It's the week of cheer tryouts and Tamera had completely ignored Tionna for the past few days. She was hanging out with Devin and Demari and anytime Tionna came around she pretended she wasn't there. It's lunch time and Tionna finally had enough of the silent treatment. She walked up to the table Tamera was sitting at with Devin and said
"Tamera what's your problem?"
"My problem?"
"Yes your problem! You act like I asked you to commit a crime or something! I'm just trying to help you get back to what you love"
"Tionna.. you don't know me! So you don't know what I love anymore! That little girl that you knew LOVED cheerleading, cooking, and fashion... but after that accident, cheerleading can go to hell"
"Tamera you don't mean that and you know you don't"
"Maybe not, but you won't be the reason I do it!" She said as she got up from the table and went to walk off. Tionna grabbed her arm and said
"So your just gonna ignore me for the rest of your life?"
Tamera sighed and said
"No.. I could never.. I honestly just hated that you told me the truth! Nobody else did"
"Tamera that's what friends are for? You shouldn't want someone as a friend that's just gonna go with everything you do & not try to push you to achieve your dreams. You need someone that can tell you the truth & give you tough love without feeling bad about it later"
"You're right... and I'm sorry"
"I accept your apology"
They hug each other and Devin sits at the table smiling. He thought he was gonna have to play referee when Tionna grabbed Tamera by the arm. Racheal walked up and said
"Hey Devin! You still coming to cheer tryouts"
"Girl I told yo ass I wasn't coming"
Tamera turned around and said
"What you going to cheer tryouts for?" Looking at Devin. Before he could answer Racheal said
"Oh he's judging. A Maywood man always help pick the new cheerleaders & Swinton girls are ALWAYS the captain"
"Girl please stfu I wasn't talking to you" Tamera said with an attitude
"Make me" Racheal said with a smirk.
Before Tamera could react Tionna grabbed her and Devin jumped up to get in between her and Rachael. The cheer coach Mrs Giveon walked over and said
"Racheal! Aren't you supposed to be recruiting new cheerleaders and getting your guys together for judging?"
"Yes ma'am"
"Then get to it!" She said sternly. Racheal walked off and Mrs Giveon turned her attention to Tamera who was still being held my Tionna. She said
"Don't I know you?"
"No, you don't!" She said as Tionna let her go
"Hmmm, you look very familiar"
"Do I?!" She asked with a slight attitude
"What's your name young lady?"
"Tamera"
Mrs Giveon gasped and said
"Greene?!?"
"Yes! How'd you know?" She asked confused
"I was a huge fan of you when you were on the Eagles all star team, then you just stopped. Oh how I wish I could get you to join my team! Why'd you stop cheering? I heard rumors but wasn't sure if they were true" she said excitedly.
Tamera was in shock. She hasn't met a fan in years and it's never been an older woman. She said
"Well, I had an accident and couldn't cheer again."
"I remember the accident.. I didn't know it was that bad.. When's the last time you got checked?"
"About a year ago.. they said everything was fine.. but I can't do it"
"Well if they said that I'm sure whatever is stopping you is in your head"
"You think so?!"
"Oh I know so" she said as she smiled at Tamera.
Tamera smiled back then Mrs Giveon looked at Devin and said
"Mr Maywood, I expect you to be there on Thursday evening"
"Yes ma'am" he replied. Mrs Giveon then whispered to him
"And get those two there too.. that other one is an all star Cavalier" she walked off and Tamera asked
"What the hell she say?"
"She recognized both of you!"
"Both?!?" Tamera and Tionna said in unison
"Yea both of you! She said you were a cavalier Tionna"
Tamera looked at Tionna and laughed, she felt Mrs Giveon was a little coocoo. Devin and Tionna looked at her confused
"What's funny?" Devin asked
"That lady must be talking about someone else" Tamera said
"Noooo.. she's definitely talking about me!" Tionna said slowly
"What you mean?" Tamera asked confused cause she don't recall Tionna ever being a cheerleader.
"Well.. after your injury I was so sad and upset that you couldn't cheer that I took up cheerleading to live out your dream for you, but you never got a chance to see me actually do it because my parents divorced and my mom moved me away"
"What? You really did that for me?" Tamera asked with the biggest smile
"Yea!, and my mom knew I was devastated because I would have the brightest smile on the mat and the second I got off the smile went away! She knew I needed you! So she found your parents and they literally set this all up!"
"Soooo me coming here was a set up?"
"Basically.. they set us both up honestly! I didn't know you were going to this school when I came here. Shit I didn't recognize Demari until 2 days later"
"You know what? I'm not even mad at the fact that they set this up! I'm actually glad they did"
"Yea me too!"
Devin looked at them both as they smiled and said
"Sooooo are y'all gonna try out for the cheer squad?"
"Are you judging?" Tamera asked
"Only if you try out" he said with a smile. Tamera said
"I'll let you know my decision tonight okay? I'm gonna head to Spanish, call you later"
Tamera and Tionna walked out the cafeteria and ran into Racheal as soon as they stepped into the hallway. She was standing in the hall as if she was waiting for them. Tamera rolled her eyes and proceeded to walk past Rachel until Racheal said
"You know you ain't shit right?"
"Excuse me???" Tamera said as she turned around
"You think because coach thinks you're cute that that's gonna help you get on this squad?? Well lemme tell you now it won't! I make the final decision" she said with emphasis
"You know what Racheal? I promise you, I could make your little squad AND take your spot"
"Aha! Don't be so sure of yourself"
"Oh but baby I am! Because I know for a fact, YOU don't got shit on me!" Tamera said walking closer to her
"Girl I'm the best damn cheerleader in this city! You'd be a fool to go against me! You know how many times I've won the jump off or a captain stand off at a competition?"
"We'll see on Thursday" Tamera said before walking off. Tionna followed behind her. They finally reached their Spanish class and before walking in Tionna asked
"You sure you wanna do this?"
"Yes! I'm not finna let her play wit me.. I'm joining the team AND taking her spot!!.. and you're gonna do it with me!" Tamera said as she smiled, Tionna smiled back and said
"Okay! Whatever! Let's do it!"
They walked into class and finished out their day.
