Ant sighed softly. If he thought he was worried about his sister before, now he was worrying to the third power or higher. Why? They searched the entire Black Market with drones, checked every catwalk, flew into the tightest places where Fontaine might hide, but they couldn't find her anywhere. He noticed Daniels nailing with his webcam, and grandma literally landed her own drone on Dolos's head, but there was not even a trace of his older sister anywhere. She wasn't at the Black Market at all! But she couldn't just disappear like that, could she? She had to go somewhere. The only question was... where?
Truly, in theory, she could be anywhere.
Ant groaned as he placed the drone controller on the pilot's cockpit he was sitting in front of. The flying equipment was already back in its place, but that didn't matter at the moment.
What happened to his sister? He thought parents would find her, that she was just lost, but Fontaine was completely gone! What kind of trouble could she be in now? Maybe someone kidnapped her? Is she still alive at all?
He would never admit it in front of her, but he really loved her very much and already missed her sarcastic remarks and no-nonsense approach to life. In fact, she was the most responsible person in their family. That's what he admired about her. She had only been gone for a few minutes, maybe an hour, and Ant missed her terribly. What if he'll never see his sister again? He wouldn't stand it.
He leaned against the pilot's seat, wanted to be alone now, and apparently Grandma and Grandpa must have noticed, because neither of them spoke. The boy was grateful for this.
Until the bridge door opened. He didn't even have to turn his chair around to know it was his parents.
"We checked everything. Not a trace," Kaiko began. "The Fontaine wasn't there, and same the Dark Orca. I don't know if they were moored here today at all".
"It's like she melted away," Will added.
Ant sniffled. The adults must have noticed, because after a while he heard footsteps approaching. It was one person. His mom.
Kaiko said nothing. She just knelt in front of Ant, grabbed him and hugged tightly. He returned the gesture. The boy needed it now more than ever before and was really grateful to her for that. He got up from the pilot's seat and hugged his mom tighter, still sniffling slightly.
"Don't worry, Ant," she whispered. "It'll work out somehow, you'll see."
"But...she couldn't just disappear like that."
"If she had been here, she would have said there is a logical explanation for it," his mother smiled slightly. "Because there is, Ant, and we'll find that explanation. We'll find her too".
She pulled away from him slightly, then put her hands on his shoulders and gave him a reassuring smile. He was still worried, but this gesture from his mother made him feel better.
"And if anyone is responsible for her disappearance, they'll have to deal with me," she added more menacingly.
"No," Will shook his head. "They'll have to deal with all of us."
Kaiko nodded in agreement, and Ant smiled slightly. This combative mood was starting to get to him, and honestly, he preferred that than cracking completely.
"Exactly!" he added. "And then they'll know that you don't mess with the Nektons! And if they try, they'll get hit with Joran..."
Something interrupted him.
"Incoming call? Really? I had a brilliant motivational speech ready!" he groaned. "Why does something always have to happen at this point, Jeffrey?"
He was looking at his fish, but out of the corner of his eye he saw Kaiko frown. Then she sat in the pilot's seat. The rest of the family moved closer.
