"Bet you catch me!" Rocket teased. He swiftly rocket jumped onto the roof of the restaurant . It was now starting to become dark outside.

"Oh yeah, then check this out!" Sword used his dolphin slash and lunge, racing to tag Rocket. His dolphin slash made him travel much further than expected, causing him to go past Rocket.

"Be careful you two," Medkit sternly warned as he was at the front door. "Don't lose a limb." "Especially you, Rocket." he added.

Rocket looked down at Medkit to say something back but then Sword tagged him.

"Ha! Got you!"

"Hey, no fair!"

"Sword wait, I need to talk with y-" Medkit tried to speak to him but he was already off to tagging Rocket.

He looked at Boombox and deadpanned.

"I guess we'll just wait for them to wind back up here."

They both waited, albeit they were pretty bored. Medkit was staring at the lights all over Crossroads that stood out much better in the night. Boombox was thinking about how he had left his boombox back at his apartment. He was starting to regret not bringing it until he remembered how Medkit always complained about how annoying he and his music was which upsetted him.

Why did he even still want to be friends with this old man? Ok, he wasn't that old but Boombox almost always enjoyed his company, despite him being gloomy and serious all the time . It was apparent that the other did not share this feeling and that was ok with him.

His thought process was broken off by the man in front of him.

"I've wondered... How did you get your visor?" Medkit curiously asked. He intriguingly looked at each of the individual pixels on Boombox's visor.

"It was a lucky prize that came along with buying my first boombox, which is the one I still use!" he cheerfully beamed.

"That's nice, do you wear it while you sleep?" he smirked, trying to contain his laughter.

"No, of course not!" Boombox laughed. "I have to charge it every once in a while, and also it gets uncomfortable after a long time."

"I see." He then glanced at the clock in the restaurant. "It's been an awful amount of time since Sword and Rocket left," he reminded Boombox. "I'm concerned for them."

"I don't think you need to worry, plus you've already had a shitty day so just chill out-"

"Wait, is that them?" he looked out the window.

"Hm?" Medkit also looked out of the window to see multiple civilians injured down the street from a familiar bright pink light. Rocket and Sword were trying their best to fight back against the poison in their system while trying to get revenge on whoever started this chaos.

"What's going on?!" Boombox shrieked.

This was practically Medkit's worst nightmare. He dreaded this day, ever since his former lab partner started to use the same energy source as his for malicious sadistic uses.

He knew that Subspace was capable of doing these things without any remorse, since he would "accidentally" poison Medkit or deliberately ask if he could experiment on him (to which he always said no to).

Luckily, Medkit always carried around his syringe and medkit. Even though it would almost never come into use if he was outside, it was better to be safe than sorry.

"Boombox, I need you to stay inside, it's far too risky to go out-"

"What?! No way! I gotta go help them and beat the hell out of whoever is causing this!" he retaliated. Boombox rolled up his sleeves and was about to open the door to leave until Medkit grabbed him by his shirt collar.

"It's Subspace... He hasn't gotten an outlet for his sadistic needs in a long time..." He guiltily remembered. Medkit contemplated about how if he let Subspace test his poison on him, maybe this could have been prevented. Who am I kidding, that wouldn't even be enough to satisfy him. He faltered.

"So what! That just makes me want to punch him mor-"

"Don't be dumb, you can't just run in there! You'd be more useful if you had your boombox!"

Boombox opened and closed his mouth a few times, trying to say something back. He knew Medkit was right but he hated feeling so helpless. He wanted to be there for his friends all the time.

"Then... I'll- I'll run back to my apartment!" he stammered. He raced towards the door.

"I promise that I'll be back in no time!" he quickly said as he left. The door closed behind him, concealing the noise of chaos outside.

Medkit sighed and knew there was no stopping him anyway. He hastily grabbed his syringe out of his first aid kit and went out of the door as well.
