He seems taken aback by my response, as if he hadn't expected me to reveal myself. But I can't let him pry into my personal life, not when I barely know anything about him or this world.

"I see," he says, his expression unreadable. "For now, let's put that aside. I'll take you to the tribe, and we'll decide what we will do with you."

I nod, relieved that he isn't pushing the matter further. It seems that he has decided to give me a chance, at least for now.

"Thank you," I say, gratitude evident in my voice. "I promise I won't cause any trouble."

His eyes soften slightly, and I sense a hint of warmth in his gaze. "We'll see," he replies, his tone still guarded. "But remember, you'll be under our watchful eye."

I nod again, understanding the weight of his words.

Phew, I think in relief. Gladly, I dealt with that.

After our agreement, we start our journey.

-

In the midst of the forest, I clench my thighs tightly as I hold onto the panther's fur, feeling the rush of wind and adrenaline as we sprint onward.

While fear grips me, there's also a profound sense of wonder from this unfamiliar vantage point. Yet, deep within, the unsettling notion persists that I do not belong here; it all seems like a bizarre dream or illusion.

As the panther's powerful strides carry us further, I inquire, "Which village lies ahead?"

"It's Camel Hump Valley," comes his resonant reply.

My heart freezes, and I feign composure, grateful that he remains focused on our journey. Camel Hump Valley - isn't that the village from the novel I had read?

'Seriously, is this the Beast World from that popular novel or comic?' I silently exclaim.

I dread the prospect of encountering the story's characters, especially Bai Qing Qing. Interfering with their narrative could yield unforeseen consequences.

Lost in contemplation, the panther notices my silence and asks, "Is something amiss, female? Are you hungry? We could take a momentary break."

Touched by his concern, I can't confide the truth. "May we halt briefly?" I nervously utter, clutching my heavy backpack. "I need to... relieve myself. Would that be alright?"

He looks flustered but agrees, "Alright."

As we slow down, I spot a large bush and hasten behind it. "Could you turn away for a while? It's awkward," I request.

He complies, though somewhat embarrassed. "If it eases your discomfort, I shall."

"Stay a bit farther, so you can't hear... you know," I stammer, hoping he'd grasp my desire for privacy.

"Fine," he concedes, vanishing from view.

Seizing this opportune moment, I breathe a sigh of relief, knowing I can make a quick escape.

My priority is finding Curtis, a pivotal character in the novel, while ensuring I avoid Bai Qing Qing at all costs. I have to be careful and alert, I have to find a way back to my world.

-

Breathing heavily, I set off running, leaving behind both the panther and the village. In this world reminiscent of the tale I once read, Curtis should be nearby, perhaps at the lake adjacent to the village. Isn't that so?

Holding my weighty backpack, I can't help but lament its heaviness.

"Why is this thing so burdensome? If only I were taller and stronger, I wouldn't be struggling like this," I mutter, feeling the strain on my shoulders and back.

My once-clean shoes are now caked with dirt and covered in mud, while my meticulously selected black pants are now disheveled, adorned with debris and tiny sticks clinging to the fabric. My shirt is soaked in sweat, but I pay it no mind.

Despite my desire to distance myself from the village, I know there's a lake there, an ideal spot for a much-needed bath. Curtis might be there too. In the novel I read, Bai Qingqing was afraid of snakes, so perhaps stealing one of her love interests wouldn't be such a bad idea?

Thoughts of the fictional character Curtis, strong and possessive in the story, but also troubled and overwhelming, creep into my mind. I shake my head, trying to dismiss such notions. The entire situation is preposterous.
