The sound of the engine running, the wheels moving on the road, and the occasional talk between Sword and Rocket filled the car as the group followed the singular road. To say that taking any sight of any sort of infrastructure out here, in the outskirts of Crossroads, as a sign that they were even doing well in their travels would be an understatement.
Of course, Boombox really wanted to play some tunes. It's just... so dead feeling in this car! No sick music playing, the sights just being long stretches of dirt and grass only satisfies anyone for so long, and Medkit's unwillingness to even speak to them— "Don't interrupt my focus. I'll turn this car around if you do." —There's just so much a little guy like them could take!
They slowly moved their hand to the car radio, hoping Meddie wouldn't see... but alas! With a quick movement, Medkit pushed Boombox's hand away from the center console, further adding to the downer mood in the front of the car.
"In about 400 feet, take a right turn." Rocket's GPS went off.
"Finally. We'll be approaching our first stop soon." Medkit said as he slowed the car to make the right turn. Boombox looked out the window and... oh my gosh! It... it's a desert town right up against a giant mountain. Must be the pitstop, as they can see the Phighting agency's bus stop being set up for next week!
"Alright everyone. Out." Medkit said, unbuckling his seatbelt before stepping out of the car. They should do the same... maybe leave their trusty boombox in the trunk for now. Probably won't need it, and besides! They're not officially in a match. The sounds of Sword and Rocket doing the same were heard by them a little bit after.
"Uh huh. I see. Thanks for the heads up." Medkit was talking to someone already? Oh! They must be someone who's helping with the bus stop. Wait, he's turning towards us. "I'm going to go find us a place to rest, and some fuel for the car. The arena's down the tunnel. You three... go have fun exploring or something."
"Welp, you heard him you guys! Let's go!" Taking Rocket's hand, who was also holding Sword's hand, they led them into the tunnel, going dark for a bit— "Help! Rocket! I can't see!" "You're still holding onto my hand though..." "Oh... oh yeah!" —And on the other side... oh my gosh, that's a large railroad running through the middle.
Practically bouncing over to the sign holding up the railroad, it read, ★ Chaos Canyon ★ with a date at the bottom... EST ● 2007
So... it's called Chaos Canyon? Well, it sure does look pretty chaotic! Buncha decorations and wood around the place, not to mention the tiny little cactus to the left of the sign. How's it going little guy?
Ok, ok, back to it Boombox! You're here to learn the layout of the arena! Smacking themself on the face, they split off from the best friends forever duo to start walking around and learning where everything is!
Meanwhile... with Medkit...
"So... a few motel rooms cost how much Bux for a night?"
"500 Bux per night pal! So for your group it would be around 2000 Bux, if we don't take in that little tax that the cityfolk love to put in for everything."
"..." One of these days, he's gonna thank Subspace for being his research partner for years. Without that idiot, he wouldn't have a good supply of Bux to fund his crystal requirements for his bullets... and other expenses. Like this.
"Fine." Signing the rooms under his name, he takes out twenty of his hundred Bux dollars that he keeps on hand and hands them over to the receptionist, who promptly takes it and hands over the room keys. Not happy about the price, but whatever. Might as well check them out beforehand.
Room one... Well, it's basic alright. A single bed with a nightstand and a lamp, along with a desk and a chair. It's... perfect... How did he already find the perfect motel room this fast? The other three can grab a room later. He's gotta enjoy this while he still can. The peace and quiet of a simple motel room...
...
...
...Okay, he should give these keys to them before he falls asleep at least. Out he goes, back outside. They're probably still in the arena, or... they could just be... walking out... right now. Somehow, they always manage to subvert his expectations. Both good and bad ones. Better give them their keys now.
"You three. Grab a key, that will be your room for the night." He said, holding out his hand with the three keys held within it. Boombox got the fourth key, Rocket got the third, and Sword got the second.
"You see that building over there?" Pointing towards the motel and looking back to see if they're looking... good. "That is where we will be staying. Match your key with the room. It's not that hard. I'm going to bed..." Okay, back to the motel.
