Being on land after spending days on water is nice, definitely less rocking and less chance of getting wet. My stay in the port was short-lived though, since almost about everyone insisted that I should get checked out at the nearest clinic.

The captain instructed another crew member, Minato, to drive me and Shinobu to town, with Hayato and Isamu joining the ride to buy supplies for the boat's repairs. Unfortunately, the harbor we're in still lacks in a few aspects, industrially speaking. So, we'll have to drive all the way to town for a lot of things.

"Honestly guys, I think Shinobu-senpai had it worse." I argue once again as we approached Minato's keitora*                                        *[keitora  =  a mini pickup truck found in Japan]*

"I'm fine." I added. Despite my constant protest though, none of them are still convince on letting me stay.

"Sorry, Starfish, Captain Yamato's orders." Hayato replied as the doors get unlocked. Then Minato slipped in "He's right, it's also better safe than sorry."

I followed Isamu and Hayato at the open back of the truck while Shinobu joined Minato inside. "Geez, bunch of adults ganging on a teenager. See what their doing, Isamu-kun?" I jokingly remarked which made the two guys with me chuckle. We drove towards town as we chat with each other, it turns out, Isamu also wanted to learn more about mechanics, so he wanted to join the chief engineer at the shop. At some point, we also ended up playing 'I Spy' (I won, obviously, not like I'm gonna let anyone one-up me).

Every once in a while, I also glance at Shinobu to check up on him, thankfully, aside from a limp, he seems better than he was a few hours ago. Luckily for me too, there were little questions asked about the incident, mostly because everyone was just grateful that we both got out alive. No one suspected a thing, and I want to keep things that way.

After about ten minutes on the road, Hayato and Isamu got dropped off at the marine store, and the rest of us drove further into town. It's the mundane and relaxing things I really enjoy, like long road trips and just looking at the ocean. For a moment, I get to feel unbothered by the events happening around me, just drifting in my little bubble.

A handful of minutes past, we finally reached the inner parts of town. Now comes the part I dread the most, every single time I visit a hospital, no matter where it is, the atmosphere would suddenly feel heavy the second I enter the gates. You know the feeling when you enter a cramped room or space? It's somewhat like that, on top of that, I instinctively get the feeling something is misplaced, I don't know if it's me or something else. I just couldn't put my finger on what it is.

We got ourselves examined and the doctor said there's nothing seriously wrong with the both of us, phew. Though, the entire check up, I couldn't help but notice that the doctor kept looking at me, sometimes making prolonged eye contact. I was about to say something about it but the doctor spoke first.

"Pardon me," he said in a soft and slightly nervous voice, "I hope you don't think me rude, but I noticed something different in your eye."

Oh, so that's what the staring was about. I often end up forgetting about it since I never notice it aside from looking at my reflection or when I get weird looks from other people.

"Yeah, I get that a lot." I replied bluntly, "Don't ask, all I know is I had it since I was born."

"Oh." The doctor looked a little disappointed, but he still displayed a little smile. I Imagine that he probably had a lot of questions about it, too. "Well, nevertheless, I think it's really interesting. Or, if you don't mind me saying, pretty, in fact."

I felt my face heat up a little, but I managed to keep a straight face. I could basically see Shinobu and Minato's smirk without turning around to look at them. The doctor cleared his throat then went on to what he was doing. So yeah, my right eye doesn't exactly look normal, both of my eyes are black in colour, but what's different on my right eye is the iris. It is vertically slitted and with a ring or a circle on top of it, and the cherry on top is that it's purple in colour. The guys are kind of used to it by now, so the topic is usually avoided.

After what felt like forever, we finally left the hospital, and once we did, the intense feeling faded away. But another pain in the butt followed me on my way to the truck.

"At first I thought he was into you or something." Shinobu's annoying remark made me roll my eyes, meanwhile, Minato was doing his best not to laugh. "That would have been messed up." he added before snickering.

"Maybe I should've just left you to drown." I said in an irritated tone, of course I'm just joking but they just wouldn't stop bringing it up. One annoying fact about older guys acting like your brother figures are it's a part of their job description to tease you and make you flustered.

"Aya-chan?"

I almost jumped when I heard someone call my name, and I couldn't help but think that her voice sounded familiar. I turned around and saw a lady with long dark hair tied to a ponytail, wearing a light blue button up sweatshirt and black pants.

"That's me...", I glanced at my companions, they were just as confused as I am. "Do I know you?"

"Aya-chan, it's me..."
