An average day begins.
I have an early shift since I don't feel tired when I wake up in the morning, or at all really.
I take over running the small shop as B finishes his shift. He'll usually tell me a couple of things aren't stocked so I need to fill up those shelves and then he's gone.
We're not friends, just co-workers.
It's easy to not think about using my powers since I've been doing it all my life, though I do have to pretend to struggle when lifting trays of cans. We're never too busy, so I'm mostly just playing a role for the security camera.
Something I forgot to mention, I don't work out but I'm naturally fit from my powers. Something that has caused Q to start coming in pretty frequently. She only ever buys one or two things, and spends a lot of her time staring at my arms. She has asked me out to get drinks once or twice and I've been able to come up with excuses so far.
She's nice, just not my type.
"Just this, pleeaase." She puts down a caffeine drink on the counter and I scan it with a beep.
"That's £1.80. Cash or card?"
"Card." The usual crack of a smirk and focus clearly on her attempts for flirtatious eye contact.
Another short beep, the transaction goes through.
"Alright, have a nice day, Q."
There's a moment where she pauses, likely as I say her name. Is it misleading to become too friendly with her? I don't want her thinking too much about it.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
Her heart is beating quicker, she's definitely mad about me. Part of me hopes it isn't just this artificial appearance, that she finds something about my personality appealing.
Those are thoughts for another day.
Work comes to an end without anything exciting happening.
