Lurking in the shadows of the abandoned church, a woman looks down at the scene unfolding below her. While some might call the baby about to enter this cruel, cruel world a miracle, she called a it Thursday. Though, in truth, not many thought the babe was a miracle but rather an abomination, something that could only exist through one of nature's many loopholes.

Those people angered her beyond belief, as how could someone be able to call something as innocent and pure as a newborn child an abomination?

The scene unfolding below was as follows: a mother giving birth, unaware of what those around her truly planned to do once the baby was born; a father shouting with rage at the thought of what he knows will surely happen to his child. Three witches, planning to use the newborn in an unholy ritual to reaffirm the connection and power their ancestors provided the French Quarter coven with.

With one final push, the baby had been delivered, and the mother sighed in relief while the lights around the room flickered for a mere second. The woman smirked from her spot on the balcony. That's one powerful witch. She thought to herself.

'You have a beautiful baby daughter.' The red-headed witch who had helped deliver the babe stated, looking from the little girl's face to her father, who was suspended on the wall in front of them, held in place by a spell. As the redhead made eye contact with him, however, tears of joy were starting to form in his eyes. The woman couldn't help but feel a tinge of sympathy for him, knowing what he had sacrificed for this.

'We must start the sacrifice as soon as the moon sets in the morning sky.' The same witch informed the others.

'Please... please, can I hold her?' The mother asked in desperation, tears welling in her jade green eyes.

Hesitantly, the youngest of the witches gave the woman the crying babe, while at the same time quickly moving behind the mother, slitting her throat in one swift motion.

The father screamed in horror at the action. Nonetheless, the witches ignored him, hurriedly taking the baby from her mother's arms and leaving the church, as anguished screams still echoed off the walls.

With one final look at the aftermath, and a look of pity towards the mother, the woman took a deep breath to shake the shock as she quickly sped away from her hiding spot.
