I can't go any further than this...

There comes a time in every person's life when they sit and reevaluate everything they have done up to the current moment. Then, a moment of panic sinks in, and then depression. For Louis Tomlinson, this was becoming more and more.

Louis was a happy, healthy, handsome young man. He was well-liked by all and had a personality that made everyone around him feel at ease. Louis loved to sing and play music, but he knew he could never make a career out of it. Music was Louis' life. Every time his fingers brushed the piano keys, the music would soothe his frequently wounded soul.

Louis loved Alex, or so he thought. But, no one ever said being in love was going to be as difficult as it was for him. Alex was his first, for everything. Alex knew this and tended to abuse it, and Louis. He had learned early on that Alex had jealousy issues. Louis was naive to think that the love he held for Alex would allow him to overlook such issues. Oh, how he was wrong.

Louis and Alex met at a bar where Louis worked at. Whiskey Kiss was a bar at the ass end of London where all the hipsters, the wankers, the sexually frustrated, and the lost came to get away from it all. Louis fit in perfectly. So did Alex at one time. Louis' best friend since childhood owned the bar and Louis worked there from the beginning. His charming personality, his brilliant smile, and his never-ending chattering won everyone's approval that came to drink their worries away.

Fresh out of college and partying for the face his long days of studying were officially over, and Alex decided to celebrate. He had graduated at the top of his class as a business major and talking London real estate was his life goal. He scored an internship with London's most elite realtors and was well on his way.

His classmates dragged him to Whiskey Kiss, a place where Alex would never have been caught dead in. But the bar was fresh and exciting, providing an atmosphere Alex enjoyed. Once Alex made eye contact and general small talk with the gorgeous bartender, he started to get shitfaced. Louis would wink and flash his crooked smile and Alex would turn to goo and buy another drink to keep him around.

Being a bartender was fun for Louis even though it came with certain responsibilities. The job allowed him to interact with all kinds of people Louis had come to care for. When he would notice his patrons getting too crazy, he would cut them off and sober them up. After Alex's fifth rum and Coke, Louis started to just give him Coke. Alex would joke with him, laughing and leaning over the counter to try to grab the bottle of rum. Louis would smack his hand playfully which Alex took as a cue to continue. Instead of trying to grab the bottle by his seventh drink, he leaned over the bar and grabbed Louis' wrist instead. Louis laughed it off when in actuality it hurt quite a bit. Alex released his grip and blew him a kiss before finishing his drink. From that point on, Louis was forever Alex's.

Alex had skyrocketed in London real estate at the beginning of their relationship. With his good looks and charming personality, his salary steadily increased over time. Louis considered Alex to be his Prince Charming, taking him from the London Underground and moving him into the high class of Primrose Hill.

Their first big fight came after the move to Primrose Hill. Alex told Louis to quit working at the bar because Alex made enough to support them and Louis didn't need to slum it with the bottom feeders. However, Louis refused to quit. The bar was home. He had great friends and got to work alongside his best friend, plus every Friday night was an open-mic night, Louis' chance to shine, to have his moment in the spotlight.

After Louis' abrupt refusal to quit the bar, Alex hit him. Not the playful hits Louis had grown accustomed to, but an actual backhand to the face. Louis was stunned and embarrassed. Never in his life had he been slapped in the face. Never had he been so completely humiliated. He held the side of his face, wiped his angry tears, and stormed out of the house. Alex was horrified by his actions with Louis, but he was also in control and Louis needed to understand that. Alex ran after Louis, finding him walking down the driveway. Louis was red-faced and hurt. Alex dropped to his knees and begged Louis for forgiveness. Those cool grey eyes looking up at him broke Louis' heart and he quickly forgave Alex.

But, that was just the first time. There were many more times after that. For instance, Louis was never allowed to play his piano when Alex was home. His grand piano was stowed away in the basement and when Alex left for work every morning, Louis would go downstairs and spend hours on it. One day, Alex came home early and caught Louis playing.

"I thought I told you I didn't want to hear that damned thing anymore!" Alex shouted, backhanding Louis across the face. Louis yelped and held his cheek. He looked up at his boyfriend, tearing up.

"You were at work! I didn't know you were coming home early!" Louis retorted, raising his voice. Alex hated when Louis raised his voice at him. It only made him angrier. Alex gripped a handful of Louis' hair and pulled him to his feet.

"Don't you dare yell at me! I'm in control around here! I'm the boss! What I say goes!" Alex screamed, pushing Louis away from the piano. Louis tripped over his feet and fell into the wall, tears falling down his cheeks as he watched Alex storm upstairs. Louis was tired of fighting with his boyfriend. He always felt empty and broken afterward. What other choice did he have, though? He couldn't leave Alex. For three years, it's all he's known. He was used to it, but then again, he wasn't. He would never get used to the fact that Alex had a temper. Louis always feared saying the wrong thing.

As time and years went by, Alex would hit Louis and Louis would forgive him. That was the cycle of their relationship and that's how it was going to be for as long as Louis' body allowed it. But, Louis was afraid his body wouldn't hold out for much more. He was getting weaker as the days went by.
