Poor Lexie, she was subjected to my tossing and turning through the rest of the morning. So I know she didn't get as much sleep as I did. However she's wide awake when I open my eyes, no doubt playing on her phone as always. "Lex you're always on your phone. You're gonna need glasses one day because of how much you stare at that screen." I teased her. "Mornin to you too hotstuff. Hey check your Twitter " She said to me. I groan and grab my phone off the nightstand beside my bed and open it up to the app. She apparently had the time while dancing last night to also snap some shots of us on the dance floor and all the pics she uploaded from the time of getting ready to the point we all separated on the dance floor, were blowing up with comments and likes. "Lexie you may as well just get a job as an influencer at this point." I grumbled. She giggled and tapped my shoulder. "Hey you got bigger again. How tall does that make you now like 7ft?!" She told me. I just shrugged. The smell of French toast wafted up to my room and was enough to make me drag myself out of bed. "Food. Come." I caveman grunted to Lexie who just rolled her eyes at me but followed me down to the kitchen where the delicious smell was coming from. My mother was standing at the island where the stove resided and she had a hefty pile of French toast on a plate and some sausage on another plate. "Good afternoon my dear boy." My mother said gently. "I don't have a hangover if that's what you're worried about." I informed her as I grabbed plates for Lexie and I. I handed Lexie her plate and began piling my own up with the goods. "Christopher! Save some for our other family members!" Mom chastised me. "But I'm so hungry!" I whined. She let out a sigh "I hope Draco doesn't grow like you do. Yeesh boy you have to duck to go anywhere in the house now. And we have 3 more days before you finally finish this growth spurt." She said more to her self than to me. I decided that this time I'd put some of the food on my plate back so she didn't have to work so hard. Which meant Lexie and I were going out for lunch later.
We sat in the living room chowing down when my other siblings came bustling about. Daisy and Derek the bouncy preteens, my twin Draco, the older twins Bethany and her younger twin Alexander. Talk about a full house. Dad was the last one to come join the feasting. "It's been a while since I've Deen a sight like this." He said with a voice full of love and adoration at the sight before him. We didn't often eat together like this so it was quite a sight to behold. "And look my God daughter is even with us today!" He cheered happily when ye caught sight of Lexie. He looked so aged in that moment and I felt a knot form in my stomach because I did that to him. I'd been stressing him out with my rebelling and it had caused him to age more. I finished my plate and went to the kitchen to wash my dish. I decided I'd go ahead and wash all the dishes mom had used to cook with as well. She slaved over that stove for hours to cook this big breakfast for us it was the least I could do for her. I rejoined everyone in the living room, opting to sit on the floor instead of the couch so someone would have more space. I was at Lexie's feet while she was also finishing up her plate. I waited until she was done and grabbed her plate from her to go wash it. I decided to stay in the kitchen and wait for the dishes to come to me instead of getting up and down constantly. Besides I felt better being away from all of them. They're in a good mood and mine was lost. "Would you like any help?" Draco asked me, bringing me from my thoughts. I opened my mouth to answer him but my phone started ringing at that moment cutting me off before I even started. I nodded to Draco as I answered my phone without checking to see who was calling. "Oh so you answer on the first ring huh?" Was the sparky reply from an all too familiar voice already. "It's too early for you." I gritted out and then hung up immediately. I almost crushed my phone that instant but held back instead. Draco kept sneaking peaks at me while I silently dealt with my inner anger. "Draco......I'm going for a run. I want to be left alone." I told him with my head down so as not to scare anyone in the house with all the anger leaking out of me currently. "Yes Alpha Chris." Draco responded. I ducked out the sliding back door, shed my clothes with each step and as I felt the fabric of my boxers leave my skin I jumped into a transformation and landed on all four paws so gracefully it was almost scary. I bolted like lightning into the woodlands.
I pushed myself to run hard and fast. I felt like I was flying or more like time around me was moving slow. I decided I would run laps so I bolted towards the spot to lap the lake. My mind bogged down with thoughts. 'Okay Lightning, is it possible for the Night Queen to make a mistake such as pairing two males together?' I asked my wolf. "No." He answered. 'So there's other same sex mating pairs somewhere out there?' I asked him next. "Yes there are." He answered again. 'Lightning...is Zather my mate?' I finally asked him but he stayed quiet for a while. "I don't know." Was the reply that came after the pregnant pause. 'Why did those other people smell good to me when we were in the club?' I asked another question. "Chandler, succubus. Malachai, hybrid." Was the gruff reply that came. He seemed agitated so I decided to leave him alone and just think to myself while he was in control.
Thinking about how easily Zather kissed Chandler and why I seemed so upset over it. Did he do it just to prove a point to me? Was it because I defended Chandler? Why does it bother me so much? The thought weighted heavily in my heart and Lightning howled a heartbroken howl. This was not a fun game to play. And I of all people knew Zather could be so heartless and cruel. I may have been dancing with Chandler so provocatively it could've been porn but I didn't go off and kiss him. "Christopher you had your tongue on him. That's just as bad." Lightning quipped in suddenly. He was right though. I needed to move on from this. It wouldn't be fair for me to hold that kiss over his head. "He did it to hurt you though and that isn't right either." Lightning piqued. What a mess the two of us are. So broken, there's no way the Night Queen chose the two of us as mates for each other. "You don't know that. Besides it isn't you and him she picked as mates, if we are mates it's between Arden and I. Would the two of you really out your wolves through that pain if we are to be mates?" Lighning queried me. The thought of hurting my wolf didn't sit right with me after he had put it to me that way. 'You got me L, I wouldn't dare hurt you that way.' I told him. Through our bond I felt him settle a bit and he relinquished control back to me.
I decided I'd run enough, so I returned home. Draco was once again sitting on my bed waiting for me. "How was your run brother?" He asked. I shrugged some and put on a pair of boxers he had handed me. "I won't say it was enlightening or anything but it helped some." I told him. "You're phones been non stop since you took off. Maybe you should talk to him." Draco tried as he held my phone out to me. As if on some unseen cue it rang the moment I touched it. "That's my sign." I sighed and answered Zather. "You're needy you know that?" I questioned before he said anything. "You've been ignoring me." He fired back. "I went for a run and had a chat with my wolf. That's not ignoring you. We aren't made with built in pockets for phones." I told him. "I'm sorry...Chris, for doing that to you last night. It wasn't right." He threw out. "Forget about it. I'm not happy about it and I'd rather be mad at you for it but it's not worth it. Until we are a thing though, don't butt into my relations like that again." I relented. "I swear I wasn't following you. Going out did sound like a good idea after you said you were. I wasn't expecting to bump into you though." He said quietly. "Zather just........it's okay." I sighed. "Well then, I'll let you go. Oh and Chris, thank you for talking to me." He ended our call before I could respond. "That was awkward and cringey to be around for." Draco piped up. I rolled my eyes at him. "I can't stand you sometimes ya know." I chuckled. "What? You can't stand yourself? How crazy?" Draco teased. I just shook my head at him. "Lexie left before you got back. Thought I'd tell you. Besides she needed to go check in at home anyways." He informed me. "She probably needs to figure out what to get me for my birthday." I thought aloud. "You mean our birthday. The one you share with me in five days." He teased me. "Yeah that one." I joked. "Okay I'm exhausted so I'm gonna take a nap now get out of my room." I urged. I was feeling really worn out with all the turmoil and partying and just dealing with life. Draco nodded and exited my room swiftly. I couldn't help but think that the argument we had the other night is what made him move a bit faster these days. I stretched a bit before I finally laid in bed to take my nap.
