It All Started With Cake

I woke up to someone whisper yelling on the phone 

Matt's POV

I woke up and Alice wasn't awake yet so I check my phone to about 20 missed calls from my father so I call him back

"Matthew what were you thinking you know you can't be with her" My dad says

"Father I don't care anymore if I lose the throne if I have her that's all that matters" I say 

"Have you talked to The President " My dad says 

"Yes he's happy for us so why can't you be" I say as Alice moves closer to me I lift her shirt a bit so I can make sure her stitches are fine

"What's going on over there" My dad says 

"Nothing father" I say pulling her shirt back down and I slowly get out of bed and pace around my room the rest of the time I was on the phone with my father

"Something's wrong" My dad says

"Alice she um I don't know how to say it" I say 

"What happened is she okay" My dad says

"Of course she's okay I found her luckily in time, but she on to get stitches" I say

"Stitches what happened does The President know" My dad says

"Yes father he knows she attempted she got overwhelmed called Avery while I was changing in my room and she was in the gym waiting for me and she told me she just lost control over herself" I say 

"Oh my lord so she's okay" My dad says

"FATHER DID YOU NOT HEAR ME SAY SHE'S OKAY" I whisper yell

"Don't raise your voice at me" My dad says

"Father I want to stay with Alice and be with her and maybe even next year I want to marry her I see her in my future and she sees me in hers so does her father so with your permission to be with her regardless what you say i'm being with her" I say 

"You really love her son don't you" My dad says

"Of course I do she's one of the sweetest people I know and I want her in my life for as long as possible" I say

"Matthew what were those notebooks for like the ones you go through like crazy" My dad says

"Her every single one is about her everything I love about her, facts about her, everything you name it's in there" I say

"You know son I did the same with your mother" My dad says and my eyes widen this was his first time mentioning mom 

"Oh do you still have them" I say hoping he'd tell me and I could go find them

"Of course I do I gave her them for her first christmas in the palace" My dad says

"Where are they" I ask 

"I don't know I asked your aunt to leave them somewhere in the palace and not tell me, but I think i'm ready to see them again so i'll call her and text you where they are" My dad says

"Really okay thank you father" I say 

"You and Alice remind me for your mother and I we used to bicker like that all the time even though I was in love with her I was just a little in denial about it so I wrote all of it down about half way into the second book I realize I loved her" My dad says

"How come we never talk about mom" I say 

"I just wasn't ready to and I'm sorry I was barely in your life once she died I know you miss her and I do too she's always there" My dad says
