02 - Jealousy
22:15 - Nine Hours Until Dawn
I emerged off the path and immediately spotted everyone seated and stood around the steps of the lodge.
"Elena! Hey!" Josh called out and I smiled at the Washington boy as I approached.
"What's up guys?" I greeted, waving at the guys that I hadn't already seen yet. Those being Josh, Matt and Ashley.
"You find your phone?" Sam asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, until Mike jumped out on me on the trail and made me drop it," I explained, "Now, it's got a $50 crack in the screen."
Sam laughed and I smiled. I walked up the steps to join Chris and Josh up by the door.
"Hey, not to rush you or anything, but I am slowly turning into a Popsicle out here." I informed them as I came up behind them, my hands rubbing my arms.
"The locks iced." Chris informed me.
"Seriously?" I asked, "Great. Well is there a window or something we can squeeze in?"
"Wait a second, are you saying we should break in?" Josh asked slightly turning to me.
I tilted my head, "I don't think it's technically breaking in if you own the place, right?"
"Hey. Not if I don't report you." He said and I frowned.
"Uhhh..." I stammered and he laughed.
"Lead the way, mi' lady." He said and gestured to the side of the lodge.
I laughed and followed them down the steps and round the lodge while Chris stopped to talk to Ashely. I smiled at them as I past. Everyone knew about their little crushes on each other.
I ran to catch up with Josh and Chris caught up with us soon after.
"So Ashley was looking pretty hot today, right?" Rolling my eyes, I pushed past them, not wanting to hear this conversation and came up beside the lodge. I notice a shattered Axe holder and stopped to look at it. The axe was missing.
"Huh." I hummed, "Where'd that go?" I looked to the side past it and noticed a metal cabinet, sitting just to the right under a cracked open window. I grinned, rubbing my hands.
"Lovely." Looking over my shoulder, I yelled to the two boys, "Hey, I found a window!"
"Great." Josh said and I went to the end of the cabinet, bracing my hands against it as Chris came up to help me push while Josh went to the other side to pull.
We heaved and heaved and after three pushes, it settle nicely underneath the window. Josh helped me climb up onto the cabinet and I heard him wolf-whistle below me.
"Don't be gross." I told him and heard him laugh as Chris climbed up beside me, pushing the window open further and leaning through. He must have not paid attention to the drop because next thing I knew he was crashing through the window and landing with a thump on his back on the floor below.
I peered through the window as Josh climbed up beside me, also sticking his head in.
"I'm okay!" Chris called out, groaning, "I should have paid more attention in climbing class." I frowned.
"You mean gym?!" Josh called. Chris pushed himself to his feet.
"Yeah, you know, with the climbing up the rope-"He stood to his feet and the second he was up straight, the lightbulb above him, shattered.
