A new chapter

I was just walking out of a big city building after being turned down another job. My rent was late and I needed to get and extra £20 to cover it. I had no other option but to ask my dad.

I hated asking my dad for things even tho he always offered to lend me money but I always pay him back every penny. I sent him a text asking to lend me £30 so I had £10 to put into savings in case I needed it. But as I sent the text a notification popped up from an unknown number. I was going to ignore it but my gut told me to look at it. So i click it and a long paragraph was on my screen. It's probably some scam and when I went to close it I saw Sarah's name. I hadn't spoke to her since she dropped off my things from the house because I knew she would try and get me to talk to Tom and I didn't want to. I was over him now and he should be to. I red the message in case it was important.

Tara it's Sarah, I know we haven't spoken in neatly a year but I still see you as my best friend so I wanted to text you to tell you something. I love you so much and it hurts me to not see in every morning with your big bed head and messed up clothes. We all miss you so much and wish you where here but anyway to my reason that I texted you.

I found out a week after you left that I was pregnant again and I couldn't bring myself to go threw what I went through again so me and bill have decided to keep her. It's a girl and her name will be hazel. I want you to be in her life Tara like an auntie she can look up to because I know Dan well it won't be good if she turns out like me but I'm having a baby shower in 2 days and I know it's last minute I just couldn't bring myself to ask you in case you said no but here I am. It will be held at the house and we would love if you came Tara but no hard feelings if you don't just please text me back so we can meet or arrange you being at her birth. X

I stud in the middle of the street looking at what I had just read. Sarah is pregnant I was so happy and I wanted to support her so I agreed to be at the baby shower. My only fear was seeing Tom again, it had been so long and I had seen other people but non of them had the same click like Tom and I had. I decided to suck it up and just ignore him when I'm there.

I knew I couldn't show up without I gift so I took out the spare £10 out of my back and went to buy a new born outfit. I knew if I did it o wouldn't be able to get food for 2 days but I can go without food by now I was use to it. I drove to a baby clothing store and went inside. I saw all of the little baby clothes and toys and my heart melted at how cute it all was. I looked through racks looking for the perfect outfit for under £10. I never knew how expensive baby clothes where until now. I saw a small baby pink top with some matching fabric overalls with tights and knew I had to get it. And it was £10 and 50% off because it had a mark on the back of it but I could clean it. I payed for it and got back £5 and I was really happy about the fact I got a cute outfit and still had money for food.

I had a cute pink gift bag that I got off my mom from my birthday that was perfect. I went home and made myself a pack of instant noodles and went to bed still annoyed at the fact I didn't get the job but excited to see Sarah.

The 2 days went by so slowly but the day came and I was waiting down the rode from my apartment for bill and Sarah to pick me up so Tom didn't find out where I was and tried to come and 'explain'. I saw bills dark blue car from down the rode and waved to them so they knew where I was. Bills car pulled into the side of the rode so I could get in and I did. Me and Sarah squealed from excitement and she gave me a long tight hug. I completely forgot about the baby for a second so when she sat back down I saw how big the bump was. "Oh my god I didn't think it would be this big!" I said surprised. Sarah laughed at me "well it had been a good 9 months since we last saw each other" she said making me feel embarrassed for not seeing or texting her. We started driving back to the house which took a while since I now lived on the other I lived so far. After an hour we made it to the house and all the memories started flooding back. We got out of the car and Sarah went straight to the toilet from the long car ride. Me and bill walked inside and it all looked like he same. The same floor and wallpaper and the same decor. It was like I never left for a second. "Ayyy!" I heard from the kitchen and when I looked over I saw Georg and Gustav stud having a beer each. "Hey!" I said and went over and gave them both a long hug. "Oh my god Tara you have barely changed!" Georg said looking me up and down. "Really have in it?" I said with a smile. It was mostly because I didn't have the money to get new clothes or my hair done so I looked pretty much the same but my hair was abit longer and darker. "Still looking good tho!" Gustav said and I smiled at him.

I really missed this, all the conversation's and joking around. I really regretted leaving for a second before I remembered why I did. Gustav handed me a gin tonic that was in the fridge. "Still your favourite?" He asked with a questionable look on his face. "Yes! Oh my god I haven't had one in so long!" I said as I took it from him and took a sip. "Ah you always made it best Gustav!" I said and he gave me a proud smile. "Dam right I do" he replied. "Oh Sarah before I forget here is a gift!" I said as I swallowed the mouth full of gin in my mouth and lent down to get the gift. "Oh you didn't have to" she said with a smile and walked over. "Well I couldn't come empty handed!" I said and handed her the bag. Her face lit up when she saw the outfit and pulled it out. "Oh my god Tara this is so cute!" She said as she hugged me. "Babe come and see this!" She said and bill walked over and smiled at me. "It's so perfect for her" he said and hugged Sarah from behind with his hands on her baby bump and kissed her cheek. They where so good for each other if they ever broke up I would stop believing in love. "I bet Tom is being a sad sack of shit in his room let me get him" bill said and left to get Tom. "Do you want to feel the baby?" Sarah asked and I nodded " of course!" I said and she walked over and placed my hands on her bump. It was so nice being here again with everyone and Sarah was pregnant just made it better. "Oh my god did you feel that!" I said and Sarah smiled "yes she kicked!" She said "oh my god I love her already" I said. I heard loud bangs coming downstairs and held my breath. Bill walked in and Tom not long after. He gave me a small smile and I just looked away.

"Bill she just kicked!" Sarah said and bill looked gutted "and I missed it getting this log of depression!" He said which made me giggle. "Drinking already?" Bill asked as I sipped on my gin. "It's a party bill" I said making him give me a fair enough look. I looked over at Tom and saw he looked like he hadn't slept in days. He looked the same as he did before I left just looked like he had skipped a day or two of shaving. He caught me looking and I quickly looked away. The door knocked and Sarah got up to answer it. "That's probably my mom!" She said and unlocked the door.

Her mom walked in and looked surprised to see me. "Tara oh my goodness how are you!" She said as she walked over to me and hugged me. "Been better" I said and Sarah's mom gave me a frown "oh what's up?" She asked. I didn't want to say I was having money trouble infront of Sarah or anyone in that room. "Oh you know life" I replied and she rubbed my back reassuring me. "It gets better" she said and went over to Sarah to greet her. Tom was looking at me like he knew something and it made me uneasy so I gave him the 'what' look and he looked away.
