It was a chilly afternoon in Derry, and the Losers' Club had ventured out to the Barrens for another adventure.
Richie, surprisingly didn't tag along.  Little did he know that Henry Bowers was lurking nearby, looking for trouble. Richie, ever the mischievous joker, had made a joke that annoyed Henry Bowers to his boiling point. Before Richie could react, Henry's cruel fists met his face, leaving him broken on the ground. He just let it happen, withholding his tears.

As Richie laid here, dazed and hurting, he heard the sound of approaching cop sirens, scaring Henry into running away like the coward he truly was. A few moments later, through the haze of pain, Richie felt familiar hands gently holding his shoulders. Blinking through blurry vision, he saw Eddie's concerned eyes and felt a rush of relief.

Eddie sighed internally as he saw Richie in such a vulnerable state, his glasses cracked, lip bleeding, and body bruised. Ignoring the anger simmering within him, Eddie swiftly pulled out his handkerchief to gently clean the blood from Richie's busted lip. Tenderly, he reached for Richie's broken glasses, gently removing them from his face.

Amidst his pain, Richie couldn't help but let a small smile form on his cracked lips. "Thanks, Eduardo," Richie murmured, his voice trembling slightly. Eddie's brows furrowed with worry, but he couldn't help but be relieved that Richie was still capable of joking around, even in this vulnerable state.

Eddie helped Richie to his feet, supporting him with an arm around his waist. Slowly, they made their way back to Richie's house.

Settling Richie onto the couch, Eddie rushed to grab ice packs from the freezer and a first aid kit. Gently, he pressed the ice pack onto Richie's swollen face, soothing the pain in silence.

Richie could feel his heart flutter with gratitude and love for Eddie. As Eddie carefully cleaned the cuts and bruises on his arms, Richie couldn't help but let his guard down a little, his words haunted by a desire to make Eddie smile. Despite his better judgment, Richie whispered humorously, "You know, Eds, I had a good time with your mom last night."

Eddie rolled his eyes and let out a soft chuckle, unable to resist Richie's antics even in this serious moment. "You're an idiot, Richie," he murmured with a fond smile. "But you're my idiot, and I love you."

Richie's heart swelled with affection, knowing that Eddie, despite everything, still loved him. Richie found the strength to push past the pain and gently cup Eddie's face. Placing his forehead against Eddie's, he whispered, "I'm a lucky idiot. I love you too, babe."

In this quiet moment, their eyes locked, and time seemed to stand still. The pain that once plagued Richie's body seemed to lessen, replaced by the warmth emanating from Eddie.

And as they sat there, their foreheads touching, their love radiating between them.

Forever, not.
