September 3rd, 2007

It's the morning of the first day of college.
Suguru yawns and stretches as he gets out of bed. Realizing he didn't hear his alarm to get up, he quickly looks at his alarm clock.

"Fuck." Suguru mutters "Class starts in 5 minutes." he groans, wishing he fell asleep at a decent time.

He rushes to get ready while muttering to himself. As he steps out of his apartment room, he glances out the window that's right in front of his door. It's pouring down rain.

"Shit. Why today of all days?" he groans and disregards the rain, not worried about getting a cold. He runs to his classroom, drenched from the downpour.

"Look who decided to show up." says a brown-haired girl teasingly. "Shut up, Shoko. Nobody asked for your input," mutters Suguru while rolling his eyes, headed for his desk next to her.

Suguru and Shoko have been friends for years. She has always helped Suguru no matter what. They're inseparable.

"Anyways, why are you soaking wet?" Shoko asks Suguru with a sigh. "I didn't realize it was raining when I left my apartment room," says Suguru with a huff.

The door opens and the teacher introduces himself. "I am Mr. Yaga, your professor for this class."

Sometime during the class, they started talking about Pandora's Box. Suguru and a lanky white-haired guy known as Satoru Gojo were going back and forth whether it was a box or a jar. Suguru said it was a jar, while Satoru said it was a box.

"I mean, it's literally in the name! Pandora's BOX!" argues Satoru with a huff. "She opened a PITHOS, which is the Greek word for a large jar," Suguru argues back.

Shoko digs her nails into Suguru whilst scowling to get him to sit back down, while the long black-haired girl that's sitting beside Satoru does the same to him.

Satoru gets the hint and sighs, sitting back down. "Jeez Utahime. That'll leave a mark!" he whines. Suguru scoffs and sits back down, obeying Shoko.

Mr. Yaga then rolls his eyes, disturbed at how annoying the two are. He sighs and clicks his tongue before speaking again.

"Alright, I know this year just started, but I am assigning a group project. No, you can't pick your partner. Next class, I will put a piece of paper on my desk that has your name and your partner's name." the whole class sighs in disappointment, "Oh, and you can't change it unless there is a severe problem. Thank you, class is dismissed."

As everyone including me and Shoko leaves the classroom, I spot Utahime and Satoru left in there going back and forth. Suguru smirks, thinking he deserves it for being so wrong about Pandora's Box.

"Hey Suguru, want to go grab a coffee with me?" Shoko says, nudging him. "Sure, why not. I haven't had coffee in a while." Suguru says as he yawns before speaking again. "That class was tiring.."

"Maybe if you weren't arguing with Satoru so much you wouldn't be so tired," adds Shoko with a terrifying expression. "But he was completely wrong! I mean, everyone should know it's a jar. He's ju-" Suguru was cut off by Shoko slapping him on the arm to get him to shut up.

"I hope that the only thing I hear this year won't be your complaints about Satoru." Shoko nudges Suguru, pointing at the coffee shop.

Suguru completely forgot about the idea of going to get coffee because of all the ranting he was doing about Satoru. They walk in and find a quiet table near a window in the corner of the cafe. Suguru sits in the booth against the wall, while Shoko sits in front of him on the other side. As they order, Suguru spots a familiar duo coming inside out of the corner of his eye.

He examines the tall, lanky white-haired boy and the small black-haired girl, arguing as they enter the building. "Oh shit.." he mutters, tapping Shoko and guiding her head in their direction. "It's shit hair and the girl!" Shoko says loudly, but not loud enough for the people around us to hear.

"Keep your voice down Shoko! I don't want them to notice us.., and it looks like they're arguing. They were arguing in the classroom as well. I wonder what it's about." says Suguru. The waitress comes by and gives us our coffee and our food.

Satoru and Utahime eventually sit down. Luckily for Suguru and Shoko, they sat down at a place far enough so they couldn't see them, but also close enough for Suguru and Shoko to eavesdrop.

"I still don't understand why you dislike that guy so much! You were wrong about it being a box, and you need to admit it!" says Utahime in a very clear annoyed tone. "He kept nagging me, he's so stubborn!" adds Satoru.

tsk. "I was not nagging him, and I'm not stubborn! He's such a liar." Suguru says to himself. "Well, you might be a little wrong about the stubborn part.." Shoko teasingly adds. "Nobody asked Shoko."

- [ The next day ] - {Sept 4th, 2007} -

It's the day that the paper that lists the partners will be shown, and Suguru isn't late this time. He prays to himself that he doesn't get Satoru as a partner, and possibly not Utahime. "She's friends with Satoru, she's probably annoying as well!" Suguru claims. "I doubt it, did you even acknowledge what she was saying yesterday in the cafe.." Shoko adds while scoffing. "My point still stands," Suguru says with a mocking expression to Shoko. "Uh-huh," Shoko adds, sticking her tongue out slightly.

The door opens and Mr. Yaga steps in with a few papers in his hand. "Good morning class, I hope you all had a good rest last night. I will be now explaining the project and I'll give you your partners afterward."

"The project will be about Greek Mythology in the present. You will write an essay about it with your partner. It is due on September 21st." As Mr. Yaga is continuing to explain the project, Suguru is barely paying attention. All he's doing is focusing on praying he doesn't have to partner up with shitty hair.

(Shoko and Suguru collectively agreed that they'd call him shitty hair from now on.)

"Alright, come up and form a line to see your partner." Yaga slides a paper onto his desk, waving his hand in his direction to grab his student's attention.

As Suguru gets closer to the paper, he can see everyone passing by nodding their head in agreement. "They seem happy about their partners.." Suguru mutters. "I pray I don't have to partner up with Satoru." It's now Shokos' turn, as her eyes skim the paper searching for her name, she nods in agreement. As she passes by, she glances at Suguru smirking.

"What was that about..." Suguru thinks to himself, even though he can already guess what he's about to see. His eyes skim to the very bottom of the paper, finally finding his name and looking to the right of his name, seeing his partner's name.

"Fuck." Suguru mutters to himself.
