Drystyn and I walked in silence to our dorms. When we arrived our dorms were next to each other and they each had another name on them.

I took out they key I was given and opened the door. Holy founders. The room was gorgeous. The first thing you see upon entering are the black couches with a gold rug laid out between them. I walked in, completely forgetting about Drystyn and found the kitchen which had black marble counters with white cabinets. the fridge was gold with a black insignia on the side of it. I hear the cheerful voice of Emilia as I continued exploring.
Emilia came out of nowhere and told me she picked the room on the left, I nodded and smiled slightly at her. I went out to the living room and brought my luggage to the room on the right, only to see Emilia in there unpacking her stuff.
" Emilia, this is the right room" she jumped and looked at me with wide eyes before responding.
"It is? sorry, I mixed up my left and right again. It's the one thing I struggle with, I don't know why". I left her and headed to the room opposite hers. The room was simple, leaving room for personalization with a black bedside table, a gold vanity on the opposite side of the bed. The bathroom was apart of the room, separated by a black door.
Instead of resting like I wanted I started unpacking my things. I didn't bring much, just hygienic items, day clothes, formal wear, and pj's along with some pictures and my locket. I unfolded my clothes and placed them on hangers in color order, red and orange to the end which is purple and black. I finish my room off with pictures of my friends, family and I. The last one I put up, is the one with Aiden, my older brother. He died last year in a fight against the rebels. It was an instant kill, a bullet to the brain, so, at least he didn't suffer.
I laid down and stared at the ceiling, picturing the last day I spent at home. My father was on a mission. I'm not allowed to know where or why because of the risk I tell someone. My mother was in the lab, testing out knew weapons she made. My brother and I just sat in our rooms, waiting the day out until it was time to go to bed. My eyes were going heavy and my muscles were relaxing. Soon, I gave way to sleep.
January 2nd
I woke up around 5:30 and got ready for the day. I walked out of my room looking at my schedule for today. We don't have to be at our classes till 6:15. I opened Emilia's room and she jumped and stared at me with a book in her hand before yelling "do you know how to knock!"
"Sorry, I'll do that next time, I just wanted to make sure your ready, class starts in 20 minutes" I informed her apologetically. She practically leapt out of bed and started pulling her curly hair into a ponytail. I left her to it, grabbed my government issued bag and waited by the door for her. When she came out, she was in our uniform, a black and gold suit. I opened the door and stepped out afterward, finding Drystyn and some other guy with glasses leaning against the wall. Oops. Were they waiting for us? Not that I give a shit.
" Drystyn, I've meant to ask you yesterday. Why did you start that fight out in the entry hall" I asked, coming up beside him.
" It's none of your business Blondie" he replied unenthusiastically, like it was a strain talking to me.
" You're Blonde too, y'know," I said, stating the obvious " Look, Drystyn, I didn't come here to make friends, but we have to get along, It's the first challenge, cooperate with someone who has a completely different personality".
"okay" he still didn't get the point.
"That means we have to be friends you dumbass! In order to get the best score out of everyone, it has to be real, no faking it. They have these little monitors that they put us on when they ask how we feel about our partner. Over half of people lie during the test and get 1/10. The one is for effort."
" You don't think I know that? I grew up here blondie, I know the in's and out's of this place" he said as he led the way to the training hall.
" I didn't know that, it wasn't in your file", Drystyn snapped his head to look at me.
" How'd you get my file"? Shizz, I forgot he wasn't supposed to know! I shrugged the question off by not even acknowledging it's existence. I looked back to see Emilia chatting her face off to the boy next to who's name, I found out was Christian Chrials. The boy looked at me with pleading eyes and while I shrugged and turned back to my partner who had gotten well ahead of us now. If I hadn't looked back when I had, I would've lost him in the newly emerging crowd of people.
I followed after him, jumping an dodging the people milling through the halls until he finally came to an abrupt stop, and, because I had caught up with him, I ran straight into him. He sighed and opened the door to the Gym for me.
"Thanks". He nodded and followed me into the room. It was amazing, everything and more that I could imagine was here ; The gravity ring, blazers, weights, obstacle courses, etc. I followed the crowed of people who were sitting down on the black carpet in front of a large hologram presenting the founders symbols. Once everybody had settled down the hologram started moving and the speakers around us were booming.
" Class of 2213, you were chosen for your intelligence and courage. In these next 6 months you will have six challenges to prove yourselves. The first will no doubt be the easiest, cooperate with your given partner and attend the monthly ball with him/her. The Founders Kyle Donavan, Amira Laden and Avery Emery were each known for their three things, their intelligence, compassion, and courage. you guys will only have small and few tests for compassion, as it is not your guys' quality, but you will be having different tests each month, many of them will be physical and straining, while the intelligence tests will be sprinkled throughout with 1 big one at the end. After I dismiss you, you and your partner will start training. You will each try out everything in the training room and once you are finished, you will head to the commons to get to know your partner. you are dismissed."
Everyone started towards different sections of the training room while Drystyn and I just sat there.
" Where do you want to go Drys" I asked, trying out a new nickname. He glared at me and stood and I quickly followed.
"It's up to you Blondie"
"Ladies first" I shot back. His glaring increased severely. Too bad he was adorable, otherwise it might have been intimidating.
