True eclipse (Book 1)

(Chapter 7) Madilyn's cataclysmic power

   As Kamui turned around he saw Lawson, Madilyn, and Dusty all in their fighting stance. There were two people standing in front of a hooded man. Kamui joined the group and said, "What happened?" Lawson slowly had the reaper's cloak form around him, "The one on our right has the ability to make any non-living objects explode, and the left and middle I don't know." Kamui saw that Lawson's red cloak started to break off and heal his wounds from the explosion. Lawson said, "Don't worry, it hit my cloak, not my body, still hurts like hell though." Kamui said, "The middle one. Do you recognize him?"

   Lawson said, "Huh? No..." Kamui said, "That's Nightmare. A high ranking government paid official. He runs this town as a sort of governor. If he's here then that means only one thing. This fight just became many times more difficult." Nightmare said, "How observant, you must be the great Kamui. Hero of the weak. Protector of the innocent. Too bad your ambitions lead you to me." Kamui said, "It seems my reputation precedes me." Nightmare said, "And then there's you lot. Lawson the reaper. Dusty, and Madilyn, the escaped test subjects.

   Lawson said, "Shut up! You all piss me off. This world is corrupt. I will put an end to this broken world and build a new one, one that doesn't rely on core strength alone!" Kamui said, "Well said kid. Let's go guys, it's one person versus all of us. We can take him down." Nightmare laughed and said, "You fools." Just then the area around them started to have more and more Nightmares from black smoke. "You have already lost." Lawson started to fend off three Nightmares at once, Kamui took on four and Madilyn and Dusty took on two each. Tim started to fight against five.

   Lawson said, "These are just clones? What is happening? This ability shouldn't be that strong!" Lawson's cloak formed and an explosion blasted him away. Lawson then realized what was happening. "Guy-" Nightmare cut him off by grabbing his neck. "You're very observant, just like your master." Lawson said as he started to get choked, "H-How?" Nightmare said, "I am this district's governor. I have eyes everywhere." Lawson closed his eyes and said, "B-ba..." Nightmare loosened his grip to allow Lawson to speak, "Back off ass hole." Lawson said as he formed a knife and slashed his own arm. Nightmare looked in disbelief and said, "Was that supposed to slash me? Haha you idiot!"

   Lawson smiled and said, "Scarlet Rot." Just then his blood formed into a red mist which eroded away everything around him. Nightmare had no choice but to drop Lawson and jump away. Lawson gasped for air as the red mist healed his arm. Lawson said, "What's wrong? Afraid to get close? Come on, you were about to win, why not get a little closer?" Nightmare looked at his arm and his clothes and skin were rotting away slowly. "Tsk. Damn brat." He said as more clones were made.

   Dusty and Madilyn were fighting together. A massive tornado formed around them and blew away more clones. Kamui Punched out another clone, which dissipated into a different person. Kamui looked at Lawson and saw he was slowly getting surrounded. Lawson's red mist started to fade. Lawson said, "Shit." As multiple clones started to jump in he jumped away. Just then time started to slow. Dusty walked up and pulled Lawson away. Time resumed and Lawson landed next to Kamui. Lawson smiled and said, "Ha! With our team work we can't lose. Nightmare laughed and said, "Foolish boy." Just then an explosion erupted at everyone's feet, forcing them all to be spread out.

   Lawson landed on his back and coughed up blood as his leg had burns and shrapnel in and on it. Kamui landed softly alone with his force field. Dusty and Madilyn landed apart from each other as well. Kamui said, "Damn. It got his leg. My force field has a set distance it can expand. When the explosions happened I tried to protect Lawson, but the explosion hit his leg still." Lawson grunted in pain as a red mist started to surround him again. Lawson's Scarlet Rot is a red mist drones from his own blood. It erodes everything that enters it, however, it heals Lawson instead of hurts him. As far as Lawson knows, that move is his only way of healing himself.
