My name is Varvara. I am short not hitting taller then 5'5. I weigh roughly 200 pounds. I have dark swirling hair with an olive complexion and amber eyes. Today is my 16th birthday. The day my true form comes over me. I live with my adopted family. They told me from an early age I was adopted from an orphanage somewhere in Greece. They have taken care of me since then. Their pack has allowed me to stay so long as when my true form comes, I pledge my allegiance to them.
We live in Sweden, in a small enclosed community, one where humans have not stepped foot in since Viking age. Pockets of our type live all over the world. Depending on their fore-fathers. My pack is descendants of Fenrir. All of my siblings, none of whom are adopted, all have light hair and fair skin. When I watch my older siblings in their true form a pang of jealously has always hit me. They have always had the love and acceptance of the pack. They never get stared at, never to feel like an outcast.

"Vara?" My older sister said stepping into my small room off of the kitchen. Astrid, meaning beautiful. Two years older then. My mothers pride and near identical twin. "Yes?" I said looking into her kind eyes. "I have to leave for the fields, but I'll be back for your celebration tonight, I'm so excited to see your true form!" She said waving as she left my door. My sister worked hard in the fields, she took care of the sheep we had there, feeding them and sheering them when spring hit.
My mother Hilda and my father Erik took up my grandfathers land when he had passed on. They cared for the sheep and harvested crops. Astrid and Mum, cared for the sheep, and in the cold months they made clothe and items for our community. My father and my brothers Leif and Ulf harvested the crops and animals when needed. Harald had joined the hunting and protection group with the leader of our pack. He was very good at sparing. We never knew if another group would try to fight us for land. Humans and other beings have been expanding and it has caused some tension. At the yearly meeting of the packs, which only the leaders and seconds my go too, there have been talks of blood feasting demons and sorcerers near by in the human towns. Their were also the rare lone wolfs. Roamers, who have either ran from packs or been kicked out. They were always males. Females were not rare, but always wanted in packs. Without them, numbers would dwindle certainly, but also half-breeds would be born. Weaker, smaller, plagued by the human blood in their veins. I wondered how I came to be in this Norse Pack. My parents refuse to tell me how they found me.

"Vara, go to your job, just because it is your day of birth does not mean you can laze about" my father said as he peered into my room. I stood up snapped out of my daze. "Yes father." I said grabbing my apron. I stayed in the house most days. Cleaning and prepping food. My job was to make sure we had food to last in our house threw the winter and until the first yields of crops. I needed to ground seeds of wheat to make flower. I would make flour for all of the pack, and in return, they would send us other goods. One house made salt and sugars, another made butters cheeses. My uncles house made meats, from everyone's animals. We were a collective, a big working machine. And I was just another cog.

It had been a few hours and my shoulders were killing me. I had made two bags of flour and was half way full in another one. I heard my family come home, one by one putting their tools outside. My mother was the first to walk in "Hello Vara, clean up so we can start making dinner." I nodded at her and began to clean up my items. "Ahh, we have potatoes and carrots, and we have some bread from yesterday. Ulf, run down to your uncles and drop off the blanket I have made for him, and ask him for some meat, anything for dinner." My mother said growing threw our pantry. She grabbed my bags of flour and walked them to the storage, also known as the closet in my bedroom. Yes my bedroom. I had the smallest. My mother and father shared the one near the front door, above their room was my sister Astrid's, with a view of the flower fields. My brother Harald has moved out to the small shed behind our house, 100 feet from us. Even his tiny shed was bigger then my room. He was working on building to it. My father said "he's preparing for a mate, Leif and Ulf will have the option to do the same when they get older." I was told that when Astrid found her mate and started a family, she would take over the house and my parents would live in my room. I had asked where I would live and my parents looked at me, "Where ever you would like I guess." Is what my father told me. I was excited at that prospect. Ulf and Leif shared the room near my parents. Then their was the entry way, that lead toward the kitchen and the pantry, my room. Their was no restroom in this house, just an out house that was horrible to use in the freezing winter, and horrible to use in the sweltering summer.
