Remember the chick in the cover, Leviathan? This ones about her. Alex is her once-best-friend-turned-enemy. Now they hate each other. In this scene, Levi is in prison. Her cellmate, Dan, has 'escaped' somehow. Alex is trying to find out where he went, and having some fun while he does. >:] Levi is a water dragon hybrid. Humanoid body, but sharp teeth, wings and a tail. She also has claws, but shes fitted with a special glove that doesn't let her scratch things. (Think of a DnD dragonborn, then the... complete opposite of that, I guess.)

Alex released me and swung a fist, his spiked gloves tearing my skin as he punched my face. Blood streamed from gashes on my cheek, and after probing the inside of my mouth with my tongue, I was horrified to realised the cuts went straight through.

He curled a lip back in a smirk. 'Oh dear. I didn't mean to damage your face just yet.'

'And I supposed your fist grew a mind of it's own?' I muttered, pressing a gloved hand to the cuts. Maybe if I shredded the leather enough, I'd be able to use my claws.

He pulled out a thin tube, about thick enough to slide a marble into. But it was made of plated metal, and bendy. And from a potion belt, he pulled out a clear bottle with a bubbly green liquid inside.

Pretty sure it wasn't mountain dew, but you never know.

I scrambled back against the wall, standing up. He was slightly shorter than me- a fact that I always found funny- but it didn't make him any less intimidating. 'Do you know what's in this vial, Leviathan?'

'D-do I want to?' I asked.

'I doubt it.' I didn't even see his axe come around, but he swung the flat at my head, knocking me to my side. Dazed, I felt him kneel next to my head, pressing his knee against my chest with enough force to make breathing difficult. 'Wyvern Acid.' He smiled cynically. 'But I'm not going to make you drink it directly, no. That might kill you quickly, and you're not going to escape that easily. No, it would do more damage if it went straight to your stomach.' I slammed my mouth shut and locked my teeth together, feeling the tips grind against my gums. I was not going to let him get that pipe down my throat, not let him force-feed me that easily.

Alex held the pipe with one hand and pinched my nose with his other. I could hold my breath for ages, but eventually someone would let their guard down. I felt his hand lock around my lower jaw and try to pry it open, but I ground my teeth tighter.

I held my breath for as long as I could, but eventually ran out of air. I inhaled through my mouth, careful not to open my teeth.

He slammed his fist into my chin again, trying to surprise me into opening my mouth. 'This... would be SO much easier... if you didn't STRUGGLE.' He growled. I kicked at him, my arms pinned under his leg. Taking a different tactic, he slammed his fist into my stomach, hitting the sore flesh. I convulsed, gasping, and he took the opportunity to pry open my jaws and shove the tube into my mouth. Choking, I tried to bite it, but the metal didn't even dent. He twisted it deeper, and I stopped struggling, breathing heavily through my nose. He picked up the acid. 'Last chance to back out.' He said, unstoppering the bottle. I shook my head, and managed to lift my hand and flip him off, smiling grimly. His face hardened, and he poured the liquid down the tube, waited a couple seconds, and pulled the entire thing out, standing up to inspect it.

I doubled over, coughing. My insides felt like they were on fire. Pain washed over me in waves, and I collapsed to my side, pulling my knees up to my chest, shrieking. I felt Alex crouch next to me. 'This is the pipe, Leviathan.' He said, showing me a bloody, mangled, hole-ridden piece of metal. '... It was also a couple centimetres longer.' He smirked. 'Imagine what it's doing to your organs.' Getting up, he picked up all of his things and swept them into his pouches. He kicked the bottle and pipe underneath the bed. I whimpered, feeling the pain build. 'It's a slow acid.' Alex continued, watching me shudder on the ground. 'It's not going to kill you now. No, it'll take a few days... and by then, I'd have clawed the answer out of you, or thought of a new idea.' He stood up. 'Don't worry. You're not dying anytime soon. Just tell me where he is.' Alex faded into the dark, shadowy area behind the door, slamming it behind him with a resounding thud.
