Weiss Schnee shouldn't be here.

Atlas Academy was a school for only the best Huntsmen- and Huntresses-in-training. Granted, Weiss was certainly one of the absolute best, having been trained by her older sister Winter Schnee, an Atlas Academy graduate.

But Weiss never intended to attend this academy. In fact, her plan was to move from Atlas to Vale to attend Beacon Academy. Why was this her plan? Those reasons were, "confidential," as she liked to put it.

Weiss was the heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, having taken her sister's place after she'd left to join the military. Her father, Jacques Schnee, was the CEO of the company, which was the biggest Dust manufacturer in all of Remnant.

The school year would begin in a few weeks, which meant Weiss was already packing up in preparation to leave for Vale. So why exactly she had been called to Atlas Academy, she wasn't sure. All she told was that it was urgent, and that it involved her sister.

Confidentiality was understood, but something about the tone at the other end of the scroll left a bad feeling within the young heiress. So, it was inevitable that she would go to Atlas Academy in hopes to discover what could possibly cause such secrecy, especially involving Winter.

Weiss was a pale-skinned young woman with pale blue eyes and long white hair that is often pulled back into an off-center ponytail or braid on the right side and pinned with a silver, icicle-shaped tiara. She had a scar which ran vertically down her left eye.

She wore a thigh-length strapless dress with a faint color gradation from white to pale blue at the hem. A small piece of black lace sat in the front of her neckline and the hem of the dress was scalloped and stitched to resemble snowflakes, with layers of white tulle under the skirt. Over this, she wore a bell-sleeved bolero with the same color gradation as her dress from shoulder to wrist, lined in red and with a ruffled collar. On the back of the bolero was the snowflake shaped Schnee Crest.

She also wore a small apple pendant on a silver chain and thin, rectangular silver earrings. Her boots were white, wedged heeled, and higher at the back than the front. They had a small silver decoration across the top of the foot and were lined in red. A thin white sash was tied around her waist with a pouch attached to the back.

Two men in dark-blue suits led her through the halls of Atlas Academy. She hadn't bothered trying to talk to them. They clearly weren't here for chatter, and, to be fair, neither was she. But their silence certainly didn't help her unease. She didn't know why she was invited here, and she couldn't help feeling uncomfortable, especially if it involved her sister.

One question plagued her mind as she followed the men. Why was she the only one invited? She didn't exactly have the highest status in her family. Above her was her father and mother. Even if they were inviting the lowest of the family, there was her younger brother. So why, of all people, was she the only one called?

When the men stopped at a door, and one of them opened it for her, Weiss supposed she'd learn the answer.

Weiss stepped into some form of amphitheater, where the seats were almost completely filled by people of all ages, not just her own. Many were older or somewhere around her age, but some were younger than her. All of them were facing the general direction of a long table, where multiple professional-looking men in suits were seated. On the wall behind them was a large screen, with showcased the Atlas Academy logo: Two gear-like shapes, with a spear going through them.

Weiss had hoped her questions would be answered here, but she only found herself with more questions.

Weiss scanned the room for an open seat. She found one around the center of the crowd, and she carefully pushed her way past the others sitting, and she took a seat in the open chair.
