Getting Ready For The Ball

Bryanna's POV

“Make sure you; clean all the windows, make sure all the floors are swept, and all the cobwebs are taken care of. I want this done before we get home tonight.” Cathien said glaring down at Bryanna.

“Yes, Stepmother,” Bryanna said trying to hold back her tears.

She wasn’t crying about the chores she was to do. She was crying about the way her stepmother and sisters treated not only her but all the other servants. Now how was she ever to go to the ball tonight?

Standing on the balcony she waved good-bye, and then wiped away a tear. She straightened her shoulders and got to work.”Miss, it’s not fair that you are not going.” Rose the upstairs maid said, as she began to help clean the windows.

“My lady,” Roxie the housekeeper said as she walked through the door,” We’re here for you; all of us servants will do your chores. Come I’ll help you get ready for the ball.”

“What? But…”

“No buts, come, your things are in your room.” Roxie said as she reached for Bryanna’s hand and helped her to her feet.Roxie could tell that Bryanna was stunned; she had to get her on her way before she had time to think about what was happening.

Roxie had Bryanna in her room with little as no fuss at all.
Until they got to her rooms then she stopped,” Wait, what are you doing?”

“We are getting you ready for the ball. Now we must hurry or you will be late.” Roxie said as she hurried to the bed where the garments where all spread out. She picked up the pretty light blue dress; with silver accents and pretty ruffles.

Bryanna stared at the lovely dress,and gasped, “How… How and where did you get that dress?”

“The coloring fits perfectly with your blonde hair and very beautiful sea green eyes.” Roxie said with a smile then she said uncertainly, “Do you like them?”

“Of course I do, it’s just I can’t leave you guys here doing all my work.”

“Yes you can, and you will. You’ve done far more than your share of the work. So now let us help you finally have some happiness in your life, and for once think about yourself”

“But… If stepmother finds out you guys helped me she would punish all of you even after the extra work I’m putting on you.” Bryanna said feeling guilty for even asking her steps if she could go. That meant that she and the others would get more chores crushed upon their shoulders.

“Come on then, turn around.” Roxie said as she turned her finger in imitation. As she started to help Bryanna take her grey dress off she said,” We’re going to make you the Cinderella of the ball.”
