More Than Enemies?

"Are you going to tell him?"

Third person

Nicky: Dawn it's nothing! I swear!

Dawn: Nothing!? It looked like you two were about to make out in the bathroom!

Y/n: Trust me we weren't kissing at all! I would never kiss him!!

Nicky: Y-you wouldn't?

Y/n heard the heartbreak in his voice. She didn't mean it, but he didn't know that. She wanted to kiss him so badly, but it would make things so awkward if Dawn knew.

Y/n: I- I don't know...

Nicky scoffed and ran out the room. Y/n was worried about him and wanted to run after him but didn't want to leave her best friend without any explanation. Y/n decided to stay and explain to Dawn what happened.

Dawn: Be super honest with me... do you like my brother??

Y/n: I- I think so...

Dawn: You think so??

Y/n: Ok ok, I do. I do like Nicky.

Dawn sighed

Dawn: Are you going to tell him?

Y/n: I don't know?? I don't really know how to...

Dawn: Do you think he shares the same uhh, feelings you have for him??

Y/n: I can only hope...

Dawn: Why don't you go after him. You don't have to tell him your feelings now. But just make sure that he's ok...

Y/n nodded and ran out the door. She searched the whole house, but he was nowhere to be found. Then she bumped into Ricky.

Y/n: Ricky! Um, do happen to know where Nicky went??

Ricky: Uhh, I saw him run out the front door?? But I have no clue where he went, sorry...

Y/n sighed and ran out the front door in search of Nicky. He could be a thousand places right now! But where?! Y/n decided to check the harpers store. She ran all the way to the front doors only to find it closed. Luckily she knew where the spare key was. She dug through a bush and finally found the key.

Y/n: Bingo!

Y/n unlocked the doors and ran inside. She didn't see him in the stores, so the last place she could look was the cafe. And as she walked in, there he was. Sitting on a bar stool drinking a smoothie.

Y/n: Nicky? Nicky!

Nicky turned around and saw Y/n running towards him. She then gave him a hug. He hugged her back.

Nicky: Huh, I didn't think you'd come

Y/n pulled away from the hug and held his hand.

Y/n: Why would you ever think I wouldn't come!?

Nicky: I don't know, just thought you wouldn't care...

Y/n: Nicky-

Nicky: I mean you care enough to come after me I guess. But not as much as I hope you'd care.

Y/n: I ca-

Nicky: I really care about you, more than I ever thought I would to be honest. Not just as a friend either...

Y/n: Nicky I-

Nicky: I know I shouldn't because your my sisters best friend. But I do and I can't get the feeling out of my heart.

Y/n: What are you saying?

Nicky looked into Y/n's eyes. He cupped her face with his hands. A smile grew on his face showing his dimples.

Nicky: Y/n L/n, I lik-

Mrs. Harper: Nicky!? What happened!? Ricky said you ran off and he couldn't find you!

Nicky: I'm fine-

Y/n: He just needed a breather, but I found him and he's ok Mrs. Harper

Mrs. Harper gave Y/n a smile and hugged her.

Mrs. Harper: Oh thank you Y/n! I'm so glad you found him! And Nicky, do you know how late it is!?!

Nicky: I'm sorry mom...

Mrs. Harper: It's ok, I'm just glad your safe! Come on let's drive back to the house.

Mrs. Harper, Nicky and Y/n all got into the van and started driving back to the house. Y/n and Nicky were sitting next to each other. Y/n was curious on what Nicky was about to say before his mom found them. Their legs were touching each other. Y/n rested her hand on her thigh as did Nicky. The silence was painful. They weren't talking which made it more awkward.

Y/n looked down at Nicky's hand. Nicky was to busy looking out the window to notice. Y/n inched her hand closer to Nicky's. Should she do this? She was having second thoughts. Maybe if she held his hand he would feel better? Or if she did he would pull away and make him feel worse. As she kept moving her hand closer the two hand finally met.

Nicky flinched and looked at Y/n's hand which was now on top of his. Y/n gave Nicky a slight smile. Nicky smiled back and took ahold of Y/n's hand. Nicky and Y/n both blushed. They were to afraid to make eye contact. So they looked out the window for the rest of the ride.
