~Ember's P.O.V.~
I kept my head down as I passed my parents, my chest burning with hurt at their disgust. I was their daughter! And their only one at that! Ezekiel and his wife turned their heads while Thomas snarled in my direction, clearly still feeling his own punishment for throwing away the Moon Goddess' blessing.
"You'll be standing before the pack for judgement," Thomas growled in my ear and I looked at him.
"Judgement for something I cannot control? For something no one can control?" I challenged coldly.
Thomas bared his teeth at my reply, his eyes flashing with rage. "Watch your tongue," He spat out.
"Still hurting?" I bit back at him, growing bolder with my own anger.
The only response I got from the Alpha was a low growl, one of clear displeasure with his authority and role being challenged so openly. I held my chin up and walked before my pack members, standing tall as I traced my eyes over them.
"Today you are all gathered to pass judgement on this curse that stands before us!" Thomas informed them, his voice booming.
Zara's response was a snarl of rage at our former mate's complete change. I silently hushed her, not wanting to let her slip up. I've always had a decent grip on my temper as required by any Warrior of a pack, but I could feel my grasp slipping as my pack mates glared at me, Thomas included. His betrayal was still so fresh and so was the negativity in my chest.
"Should we exile her?" Thomas asked, eying me with pure and utter distaste.
"She might come back with a band of rogues!" My father barked up, his eyes narrowed. "As the Beta of the pack, Alpha, I advise you don't let her out of our sight."
At this I couldn't bite back the low growl in my chest as I glared at my father. "You'd really throw away your only daughter?" I challenged him.
His eyes locked on me, empty of emotion. "I have no daughter. My kin would never bring such danger to our pack."
Zara and I both snarled, my canines flashing as I got ready to lunge at my father. Zara was furious and I felt my control over her slipping through my fingers. Ezekiel and Audrey both rushed forward and grabbed my arms, keeping me in place as I growled. My father backed away, gritting his teeth. What danger are they even talking about!?
"Should we keep her as a prisoner?" Thomas gripped my hair tight, yanking it back hard enough I yelped with pain.
His hold was tight enough I felt strands ripping from my scalp, making me fight off a whine of pain. He forced me to my knees and I cried out in response to the sharp jolt of pain that was sent through my right knee as it collided with a rock. He chuckled at that and I heard a few packmates let out howls of celebration to me being brought down.
"Kill!" Zara howled in my head hatefully.
I wanted to rip Thomas' head off in front of everyone. I felt the hatred bubbling up in my chest as bile rose to my throat. Pack members muttered to one another and I locked eyes with a fearful looking Karly. She looked angry, but not at me, her anger was cast towards Thomas. I watched as her mate joined her side and gave me a pitiful look.
"I have an idea," A woman stepped forward, her auburn locks of hair bouncing with each step.
Thomas looked at her, his eyes suddenly softening as a fondness filled them. I knew immediately that she was the bimbo he'd chosen to take my place. Her name was Josephine, too sweet for a cold hearted wrench such as herself.
"You're the slut he replaced me with?" I laughed. "Oh please! You sleep around so much it's no wonder you haven't found your mate!"
Thomas growled and I watched Josephine's eyes harden with hurt and anger. I smirked, pleased that I'd struck a nerve for them both.
"What is your idea?" Thomas turned his attention back to his chosen mate.
"She be deranked."
I felt my heart slam into my chest. If I were deranked I would be considered an Omega. I would not be living fairly or even living if I was deranked. Beatings would be endless, rape and lack of proper care as well. I swallowed, narrowing my eyes.
"Deranked to what?" Karly questioned suddenly, eying Josephine darkly.
The red head flipped her hair with a small laugh, her green eyes flashing with pride. "Omega, of course."
Thomas seemed all too happy with her decision as he released his hold on me, flinging me to the ground. I huffed, the wind being knocked out of me as I hit the ground. His hands snaked around her waist and he kissed her before looking down at me.
"From this moment on, Ember Andrews, you will be an Omega of the Crescent Moon Pack!" He declared.
I saw red, my heart pumping and I felt my body snap as I shifted explosively. Not an Omega! My sole target was Josephine, the chosen Luna. She shrieked with fear, weak and afraid instead of accepting the challenge and fighting. She took off running and I gave chase. There were howls and thundering pawsteps behind me, Thomas' guttural growl echoing pleasantly in my head.
"Ember stop!" Thomas commanded me through the mindlink.
"Don't want me to kill your precious Luna!?" I barked back in my mind. "She's pathetic! She can't even fight!"
Josephine was suddenly under my massive paws and I stared into her terrified green eyes. I snapped my jaws at her arm, taking hold and running through the trees, dragging her with me as she let out screeches of agony, her blood trailing as her legs were sliced by the branches and rocks on the forest floor.
"Ember!" Karly's voice sounded.
I glared around defensively, panting as I flung Josephine's weak body to a tree and turning around. Karly and her mate skidded to a halt and ran in opposite directions, howling for the pack to search elsewhere. But they gave the false signal too late at Thomas crashed into my side. I let out a growl and snapped at his leg, earning a smack over the muzzle with his much larger paw.
"I'd make a better Luna than that bimbo!" I snarled at him through the mindlink.
Thomas stared at me for a moment, his eyes angry and sorrowful. I was confused for only a second before I felt the pinch in my neck again. A bark of anger and pain escaped my throat as I tried to run, pinned by a very heavy Thomas.
"I'm no Omega!"
The world spun violently and went dark once more.
