"Tag, your it!" Shouted the little girl.
The small kids continued their game of tag, not noticing that Alice had slipped away. She smiled from her vantage point on the tree.
Her younger sister, Lily, and her friends were playing so adorably. She remembered when she had played tag with her friends.
It was a gloomy day, to say the least. One o the few days in the Asdinwar winter on which the outside was actually colder than the inside. Everybody was outside, once in a while giving a shiver, but over all thinking "I'm so glad it's winter."
Technically Alice was only supposed to be watching Lily, but she didn't mind keeping an eye on the others. That's why she perked up when she noticed young Amber looking at something hidden from her view by a wall. Judging from Amber's face, it was out of place. The surprise Amber showed slowly turned to curiosity as she started heading that way.
Alice started to climb down, gradually speeding up as unrealistic possibilities of what might be there flashed through her head.
Alice didn't particularly like any of Lily's friends (though she didn't mind them), but big sister instincts made her want to run up and squeeze Amber.
Her haste to climb down the tree severely back fired when her hair got stuck on a twig, which delayed her about thirty seconds. When she finally got down from the tree, an apple fell on her head. Great.
She ran over to the alleyway between the school and the house right next to it, and she saw Amber cautiously approaching a small, shaking thing. It took her a minute to realize it was a crying child, facing the wall.
Trying to remain calm, Alice tapped Ambers shoulder and told her to go play. Then Alice continue to approach the child.
Amber must have told the others there was something in the alleyway, for it wasn't long before Lily and her friends appeared behind Alice at the entrance to the alleyway. Alice then realized that if she continued in such a cautious manner, the younger kids would think she was afraid.
So she straightened up and walked confidently towards the young boy, the younger children watching intensely from the sidelines. She tapped the boy shoulder. He turned around, then scrambled back until he was up against the wall.
There was a collective gasp from the sidelines, which really didn't help Alice keep the boy calm.
The kid had dark brown hair, and he looked terrified. He wore a blue shirt and red shorts, and he was hugging a basketball as if it would somehow protect him. Alice could tell he had been cry for a while, and the terror on his face was so complete he must have been terrified even before a group of eleven kids must have appeared to corner him in an alley way.
"Hi," said Alice, trying to sound friendly.
"What's your name?"
She figured this might help, but the little boy looked even more scared as he stuttered out "T-t-thom-om-as."
"Hello, Thomas," she began, then realized the way she was standing over him might be intimidating, so she crouched so low she was almost eye level with the little boy before continuing. "What's the matter?"
Suddenly the kids face brightened. For a second Alice thought she had actually helped, then the kid pointed behind her and said "Mommy! Daddy!" Alice turned to see a man and a woman rounding the corner. The saw Thomas and their faces both suddenly lit up. "Thomas! We were so worried about you!" Said the woman as she talked she stepped around one of Lily's friends. The man literally jumped over them and ran towards the boy. He pushed Alice away from the boy with one hand, and sent her flying towards the wall. He didn't seem to register that Alice was a person; just a random object that happened to be between him and his son.
Alice just sat against the wall, surprised by the man's strength. As the two parents hugged their child, Alice stood and motioned to the group of small children to leave. Just before she rounded the corner, she heard the woman shout.
"You there!"
She stiffened, then turned.
"Can you tell us where we are?"
Alice really hasn't been expected that question.
"Ketin, ma'am." She answered quickly, then practically ran back to the group.
"Lily, we're going home." She said.
"Why? I wanna play!" Said Lily, then she collapsed in the middle of the sidewalk pouting. Alice just calmly lifted her up and pulled her away, ignoring her struggles and complaints. The rest of the kids watched them go before returning to their game.

"I'm sure your just being an oversensitive wuss."Said Kayden. "Kids get lost all the time."
"I know," said Alice, "but there was something off and different about this."
"Yeah yeah, sure."
Silence fell as the Alice, Kayden and Lily walked to the park.
Then, all the sudden, two people appeared in front of them. Who looked exactly like Alice and Kayden. They appeared in front of themselves and Lily.

I know this was a weird chapter, but don't worry they get better.
