"Pendejo!" Rosita shouts from the passenger seat of the car. "They went left here, not right. I know it for a goddamn fact."
"How would you even know? We had to stop for Eugene to piss before we could even see which way they went." Tara yells back as she comes to a screeching halt at an intersection within the road.
Eugene creeps his head forward from the back seat. "Might I suggest we simply radio the group to get a solution."
"No, I'm not fucking doing that!" Tara shouts, throwing her hands up from the steering wheel. Rosita sighs and grabs the two-way radio from the dashboard, Tara protesting and nearly grabbing the device from her hands.
"Left or right off Route Nineteen?" She deadpans into the radio.
Static and silence.
"Left."
Tara sighs and bangs her head against the steering wheel as Rosita places the device back with a smirk. Only a middle-finger is shared from the driver to the passenger, who places her feet upon the dashboard in satisfaction.
A smile spreads across my lips and I look to my left, finding Maia sleeping softly on my shoulder. Her eyes are closed lightly and her head sways gently with the motion of the car. She's been asleep since we've left the barn early this morning, claiming she was just going to rest for a few mere minutes. Now, she's sleeping heavily with no sign of waking up in sight.
"Hey, Eugene." I whisper to the man on my right. "How much longer 'til we get there?"
Eugene lolls his head over towards me an exhausted gaze. "Well, due to the roads we are on and the map Aaron gave us, I'd estimate about three minutes, tops."
I smile with a nod and look back to Maia, her still soundly asleep, despite the argument and the blabbering coming from Eugene.
"Maia?" I call her name out softly. "We're almost there, wake up."
All I receive is an aggravated hum in response.
"Let me sleep, please. It's exhausting being this cool." She slaps my arm gently with little-to-no force behind it.
I laugh lightly. "Well, it's exhausting to have to put up with you all day. Wake up." That's when her eyes open and she sits up to look at me.
"You know you couldn't live without me." She flashes me a sickly sweet smile.
A lot of her is right. After thinking I lost her on-top of Judith and everyone else after the prison, I broke. I treated Rick horribly and even when Michonne appeared I still had such an awful attitude about myself. But when she came back, that evening at the church, I smiled more than I have ever smiled before.
